I was able to purchase many items that are used in the sensory that students use daily for sensory, movement, and heavy work breaks. There are now items like a weighted ball rack to use with the rebounder machine, a balance beam, stepping stones, a stretchy tunnel, a new stretchy swing, and some additional balance equipment. These items are now available for students to use during obstacle courses and set up stations. \r\n\r\nHaving these items available in the room at all times for student use makes this room a more functional space for sensory regulation. The items allow students to get more targeted and functional input to their bodys to help them regulate and be more focused and ready to learn when they return to the classroom. Academic demands are difficult, and having a safe, fun, and functional sensory space for students to come and re-regulate when things are challenging is a foundational step to student success. We need to give them what they need to be successful and making it fun is the icing on the cake. \r\n\r\nI was able to make a new staff training inservice on how to appropriately and effectively utilize the new equipment with students, so that they are equipped to make the most effective us of this room. Overall these small contributions have a huge impact on the appropriate use of the room and are greatly appreciated! We can't make these big impacts without the support of donors like you, so thank you very much!","fullyFundedDate":1785684034603,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-sensory-space-for-student-suc/10334024/","projectTitle":"Building a Sensory Space for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kuhn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10529855_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1781222846932","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10529855"},{"teacherId":225762,"projectId":9159875,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity.\r\nMy school is located in a small rural community with fewer than 600 students in grades K–12. While this day was just for practice, the real experiments are coming soon! My class will be conducting two lab investigations—Restriction Enzymes and Bacterial Transformation—both of which require the use of micropipettors to handle very small volumes. In these labs, students will work with DNA to make it glow in the dark through bacterial transformation and become visible using gel electrophoresis.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made these hands-on experiences possible.
