In the past, when a Chromebook wasn't working or when someone forgot theirs at home, there was always that sense of stress or worry. Students might feel like they were falling behind or missing out. Now, instead of being left out or having to wait for a repair or loaner device, they can head straight to our new station and jump right in. This has made such a difference in their confidence. They love to hold and hug the sloth while they express thoughts and feelings. \r\n\r\nMy students love the Tibetan sound bowl as a way to establish focus and attention through healing sound vibration. They enjoy being mindful and still through these methods that they have first hand experience with. \r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students are to continue to stay consistent with these mindful methods so that they carryover into their daily lives. When the materials arrived, my students were absolutely overjoyed. Their excitement was contagious as they eagerly unpacked the headphones, STEM lamp, and hands-on activities. \r\n\r\nThe headphones have been an incredible addition. My students now use them daily during independent learning time to focus on digital assignments without distractions. I had one student recently tell me how much easier it is to complete her audible reading comprehension assignments because she can concentrate without the background noise of the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe cozy lamp has replaced our painfully bright overhead lights with a warm and inviting space. During a recent reflection activity, I noticed several students opting to sit near the lamp while doing their morning journal. They commented on how it makes the room feel calm and comforting—perfect for fostering creativity and mindfulness.\r\n\r\nThe hands-on activities have been a huge hit during free-choice time. Watching students collaborate to solve STEM challenges and work through creative puzzles has been amazing. \r\n\r\nFor the next steps, we plan to use the headphones to support ELA NYS test preparation. Students will practice listening to modeled reading passages and interactive test prep tools to improve comprehension. They'll also use them for fluency exercises, like recording themselves reading passages aloud to assess pacing and accuracy.
