Thanks to your donations we have been able to maintain and strengthen our motivation to work hard this year, despite the growing challenges of 8th grade. \r\n\r\nWith the use of the binders, we have been able to organize and maintain all of our hard work so that we can look back at our growth over the year as June comes along. With the social emotional cue cards, we've been able to have meaningful conversations where we practice actively listening and learn about ourselves and our peers. We have used the cue cards to inform our teacher when we need help or when we feel confident in our work. Our most favorite item though has been the snacks and candy that Mrs. Tracey has been able to provide to help us maintain our focus throughout our long days. \r\n\r\nAgain, we greatly appreciate all of your contributions!!!","fullyFundedDate":1733188380415,"projectUrl":"project/with-the-right-tools-we-can-succeed/8625986/","projectTitle":"With the Right Tools, We Can Succeed!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tracey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9647842"},{"teacherId":4041472,"projectId":8436815,"letterContent":"Taking the IMSE Morphology+ course has profoundly impacted my approach to teaching struggling readers in 4th-6th grade. This program equipped me with a deeper understanding of morphology and its critical role in developing literacy skills. By focusing on roots, prefixes, and suffixes, I've been able to explicitly teach word structure, which has enhanced my students' ability to decode unfamiliar words, improve spelling, and expand their vocabulary. These tools have been especially transformative for my older students, who often feel stuck at a lower reading level. Now, they're gaining confidence as they recognize patterns in words and apply these strategies independently.\r\n The course has also strengthened my instructional practice by emphasizing structured, multisensory learning methods. I've been able to tailor lessons to meet the diverse needs of my students, many of whom face significant academic challenges. The systematic and cumulative approach provided by Morphology+ has allowed me to scaffold learning in a way that builds on their strengths while addressing their gaps. Seeing the excitement in my students when they \"crack the code\" of a complex word has been incredibly rewarding, as it reminds them—and me—that progress is possible with the right strategies.\r\n Overall, the IMSE Morphology+ course has given me the confidence and resources to help my students not only improve their reading skills but also develop a love for language. It has been a game-changer in empowering struggling readers to see themselves as capable learners, and for that, I am truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1721440287657,"projectUrl":"project/imse-morphology-training-teaching-rea/8436815/","projectTitle":"IMSE Morphology+ Training - Teaching Reading with Orton-Gillingham","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kaufman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4041472_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706280217593","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/steamreaders"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_23031","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":822,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":75,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.1,"schoolId":23031,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kakiat Steam Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kakiat Steam Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/east-ramapo-central-school-district/ramapo-freshman-center/23031"}
