When is the last time you saw a butterfly? Have you seen them in a garden, outside, or in a zoo? What if what happened to the dinosaurs could happen to the butterflies? One day you may have to learn about butterflies only from computers or books. My students have been active science citizens and raising money to plant a butterfly garden in our school courtyard. This project would be complete with butterfly kits. They will be able to watch their caterpillar grow into a beautiful butterfly, and this will be an experience they will remember forever! Most students will learn about life cycles from a book, but our students will learn from an amazing experience. This project will allow the entire 7th grade to have Painted Lady Butterflies to care for and eventually set free.
