Because of your donations, my class had the unforgettable opportunity to observe the complete life cycle of butterflies right inside our classroom. This experience became so much more than just a science lesson—it created moments of wonder, excitement, curiosity, and joy that my students will remember for a very long time.\r\n\r\nFrom the very first day the caterpillars arrived, the students were completely fascinated. Every morning they rushed into the classroom eager to check on them and see if anything had changed overnight. They carefully observed the caterpillars eating, growing, and moving around their habitat. The students asked thoughtful questions, made predictions, shared observations, and learned new vocabulary connected to the butterfly life cycle. It was incredible to watch their excitement grow each day as they became little scientists, learning through hands-on experiences and real-life observation.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments for the students was watching the caterpillars form their chrysalises. The class was amazed by the transformation process and talked constantly about what they thought the butterflies would look like when they emerged. When the butterflies finally appeared, the room filled with excitement, smiles, and pure amazement. The students loved watching them move, stretch their wings, and prepare for flight. Seeing the children so engaged, curious, and connected to nature was truly meaningful.\r\n\r\nA few days ago, we were finally able to release the butterflies outside. This became a beautiful event that the entire school community enjoyed together. All of the kindergarten students had the opportunity to come outside and watch the butterflies fly free. The children cheered, pointed excitedly, and watched in awe as the butterflies spread their wings and flew into the sky. It was such a joyful and memorable experience for everyone involved. Many students continued talking about the release long after it ended, sharing their favorite parts and expressing how happy they felt watching the butterflies begin their new journey.\r\n\r\nYour contributions made all of this possible. Because of your support, my students were able to experience meaningful, hands-on learning that helped bring science to life in a way that books and videos alone never could. Experiences like this inspire curiosity, encourage observation and discussion, and help children develop a deeper appreciation for nature and the world around them.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity, support, and belief in creating meaningful learning experiences for young students. Your kindness truly made a difference in our classroom and brought so much joy to our school community. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for helping create such special memories for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1776453956804,"projectUrl":"project/from-caterpillar-to-butterfly-learning/10088097/","projectTitle":"From Caterpillar to Butterfly: Learning Through Life Cycles","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yusti","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8892697_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746985617464","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/diana-yusti"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_104670","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":387,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":18,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"K - K","studentTeacherRatio":"19.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":59.0,"schoolId":104670,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about East Ramapo Early Childhood Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"East Ramapo Early Childhood Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/east-ramapo-central-school-district/east-ramapo-early-childhood-ctr/104670"}
