Thanks to your donations, I was able to set up a calming corner that has been used to help my students have a peaceful, quiet space for when they need to calm themselves down. \r\nThis calm down corner includes a \"Calm Down\" kit with various objects items that prompt calm down strategies such as a breathing board, calm down dice, feelings chart and feelings sensory items. It also includes a light proof tent for the students to enter when they feel over stimulated and wall padding to keep students safe during tantrums. \r\nThanks to the calm down corner, my students are learning to regulate their emotions by using techniques such as deep breathing, taking a break and counting to ten. I have seen such a difference in their behaviors already. Because of your help, my students have been able to have a daily yoga practice every morning at the start of the class day. Each morning they take their color coded mat and set it up for a gentle and mindful yoga practice. It's so great to see their enthusiasm for taking out their mats and setting up! During the practice we dim the lights and they do their yoga stretches and breathing exercises while relaxing music plays. It is a such a great start to our day!\r\nA daily yoga practice has been so positive for my students. They are happy to start their practice every morning and they are calm and relaxed afterwards. Mornings can often be chaotic, so being able to do yoga before starting their classwork helps my students to recenter and attain a sense of calm that helps them throughout the rest of the day.
