Your generosity has given my first grade students with Autism the tools they need to strength their language, literacy, and phonemic awareness skills in ways that are both engaging and meaningful.\r\n\r\nThe Lakeshore Touch & Read Sight Word Sentences and Sentence Match & Sort have been incredible for helping my students hear, see, and feel the connection between sounds and words. By tracing the raised sight words and then building sentences, they are practicing decoding while also developing the critical awareness of how sounds blend together. For children who rely on multi-sensory input, this tactile approach has made phonemic awareness much more accessible.\r\n\r\nThe Language Quickies and Skill-Building Phonics Books give us opportunities to break down phonemic awareness into manageable steps. Students practice isolating sounds, blending them into words, and applying those skills in short bursts of practice. It is because the materials are interactive and visually appealing that students stay engaged. \r\nStudents are building confidence as emerging readers and efficient communicators.\r\n\r\nEqually as important are the floor chairs which create a comfortable, nontraditional learning space. Many of my students regulate better when seated on the floor rather than at a sterile table. Having cozy, supportive seats allows them to relax, focus and give their full attention to tasks that once felt frustrating.\r\n\r\nIt is because of your generosity that my students are experiencing success in reading and language development. They are learning to listen to sounds in words, connect those sounds to letters, and build meaning from what they read---all in an environment that feels supportive and joyful.","fullyFundedDate":1750868959801,"projectUrl":"project/speaking-up-sounding-out-shining-brigh/9410530/","projectTitle":"Speaking Up.
