Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in the daily learning experiences of my students.\r\n\r\nWe have already begun using the new resources during our learning centers and small-group instruction. The stackable storage bins have helped us organize our classroom so students can independently choose activities and practice important life skills such as cleaning up and sorting materials. Many of the Lakeshore activities, such as the Alphabet Learning Locks, Ladybug Number Match, and Color Rings Sorting Board, are being used to strengthen early literacy and math skills through hands-on play. Students are practicing letter recognition, counting, sorting, and matching while building fine motor skills at the same time.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite classroom moments happened when students explored the magnetic Create-A-Path center together. They worked collaboratively to build new paths and then took turns guiding small figures along the routes they created. It quickly became a lesson in problem solving, teamwork, and creativity.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were incredibly excited. Their eyes lit up as they explored the colorful puzzles, sensory spheres, and sorting activities. Many students immediately gravitated toward the shape-sorting toys and the wooden vehicles, which helped spark imaginative play while also reinforcing early math and spatial concepts.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using these materials during structured center rotations to build independence and communication skills. We are also incorporating them into our current lessons on letters, numbers, emotions, and social interaction. The Emotion Match Puzzle Board has already begun helping students identify and talk about feelings, which is an important part of our classroom community.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has helped create a classroom environment filled with engaging, hands-on learning opportunities. Your generosity has made a meaningful impact on our students and their ability to feel comfortable, regulated, and ready to learn each day.\r\n\r\nWe have already begun using many of the new resources during our daily routines and learning centers. The sensory spinning chairs have quickly become a favorite in our classroom's calming and movement area. Students are able to gently rock or spin when they need a movement break, which helps them regulate their bodies and return to learning more focused and calm. The Sit & Twist seat cushions and weighted lap pad are also being used during small group lessons and circle time to support students who benefit from extra sensory input while sitting.\r\n\r\nOne particularly special classroom moment happened when students first explored the magnetic tiles together. They worked collaboratively to build towers, houses, and colorful structures, practicing problem-solving and communication while strengthening fine motor and spatial skills.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were incredibly excited. Many were drawn to the bright sensory materials right away, especially the marble maze fidget mats and the toddler-safe sensory materials set. The textures, colors, and hands-on exploration immediately captured their attention and supported calm, focused play.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue incorporating these materials into our daily schedule to support regulation, focus, and engagement. The letter tracing sensory pads are already helping students practice early writing skills in a tactile, multisensory way, and we will continue using them during our literacy centers. Our goal is to build an environment where students feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped us create a classroom that truly supports the unique sensory and learning needs of every child. Thanks to you, our classroom now has a wonderful collection of new books that have truly transformed our reading experience.\r\n\r\nMany of you love to read, but as teachers, we know that learning how to read a book — not just the words, but the ideas beneath them — is a skill that takes time to develop. These new texts have helped us teach important lessons like identifying themes, analyzing characters' motivations, making inferences, and connecting what we read to our own lives. Our students are learning how to ask thoughtful questions, think critically, and express their opinions with evidence from the text.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is no longer a quiet, solitary activity. Students gather in small groups to discuss books, share their favorite passages, and even act out scenes. You'd be amazed at how lively and engaged our room becomes during reading time! We've created a culture where students are excited to talk about what they're reading and learn from each other's perspectives.","fullyFundedDate":1709771755689,"projectUrl":"project/students-love-graphic-novels/8113716/","projectTitle":"Students Love Graphic Novels","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Pandolfi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8986738_orig.jpg?crop=2030,2030,x247,y285&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1679063083047","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-pandolfi"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_21525","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":570,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":42,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":21525,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Meadow Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Meadow Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/baldwin-union-free-school-district/meadow-elementary-school/21525"}
