This space has already become a valuable part of our social-emotional support area.\r\n\r\nMany of our students need a little extra time and support to calm their bodies and emotions before they are ready to learn. The calming corner gives them a comfortable place to take a short break, use a coping strategy, and regroup when they are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, worried, or overstimulated.\r\n\r\nWe use the space to teach students simple strategies such as deep breathing, mindfulness, sensory activities, and ways to recognize and express their emotions. More importantly, students are learning that it is okay to need a break and that they have choices in how they respond when they are having a difficult moment.\r\n\r\nAs a school social worker, I am grateful to have a space where I can help students practice these skills in a safe and supportive environment. Because of your generosity, my kindergarten students were able to experience the life cycle of a butterfly right inside our classroom. Instead of only reading about metamorphosis or looking at pictures, my students were able to observe real caterpillars as they grew, formed their chrysalises, and eventually transformed into beautiful butterflies. Each day, the students were excited to check on our caterpillars, make observations, and talk about the changes they noticed.\r\n\r\nWhen the caterpillars first arrived, my students were fascinated! They had so many questions and could not wait to see what would happen next. We used the experience during our science lessons to learn vocabulary such as caterpillar, chrysalis, metamorphosis, and butterfly. Students also practiced being young scientists by making predictions, creating scientific drawings, and recording their observations in their journals. One of the most exciting moments was seeing the butterflies finally emerge after patiently watching and waiting!\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue connecting this hands-on experience to our learning about living things, life cycles, and the natural world. Most importantly, this project helped my students understand that science is something they can actually experience, observe, question, and explore. Thank you for giving my kindergarteners a learning experience they will remember long after they leave my classroom. In kindergarten, my students are constantly learning how to manage their bodies, stay focused, and become more independent learners. The Wobble Chair has given my students another seating option that allows them to move while still participating in learning. It has been especially helpful during small-group instruction and independent work, when some students need a little movement to help them stay engaged and focused.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they first saw the new chair! Of course, everyone wanted a turn right away. We talked about how the Wobble Chair is a learning tool and how we can use it safely and responsibly. It has also created opportunities for my kindergarteners to practice sharing, taking turns, and recognizing that different students may need different tools to help them learn successfully.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, my students are working on building their early reading, writing, and math skills while also learning important classroom routines and self-regulation strategies. The Wobble Chair will continue to support these lessons by giving students a flexible seating choice when they need movement to do their best learning. What started as curiosity quickly turned into laughter, teamwork, and a little friendly competition. Students practiced communication and collaboration while cheering each other on, and it was clear how much pride they took in improving their skills.\r\n\r\nThe Kan Jam games became more than just an activity, they created opportunities for students to build confidence, sportsmanship, and perseverance. Even students who were hesitant at first found ways to participate and shine. These sets gave them a sense of accomplishment and connection that carried beyond school grounds.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make this possible.
