We began including our new instruments as they arrived, and every student got to learn how to play each one, and experiment with the sounds they make. They were shocked how different the 'loud' and 'quiet' sides of the wood block were! It was an excellent opportunity for us to discuss how sound vibrations have to travel through the wood, and how it makes the sound softer the more wood there is travel through. As we were also studying different instrument families, we were able to make larger connections to how other instruments function as well.\r\n\r\nThe buckets were the most exciting part! Due to how loud they were, we were only able to play them once a week on Fridays- the rest of the week we'd learn our rhythmic patterns on the floor in preparation. It made the buckets something extra special and worth practicing for. Kinder and 1st learned the same piece, 2nd and 3rd teamed up, and 4th and 5th played a piece together in preparation for the concert. They all learned multiple rhythm and right-arm-left-arm patterns. This really helped ingrain a solid internal sense of pulse in all of the students, in addition to improving their gross motor control as well. \r\n\r\nThe students performed each of their bucket band pieces at their end of year concert, in addition to singing and recorder. You'll see photos of them attached! Thank you again for adding such an enriching experience to our classroom this year.","fullyFundedDate":1741983435217,"projectUrl":"project/future-drummers-and-percussionists-incom/9150963/","projectTitle":"Future Drummers and Percussionists Incoming!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Haley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9938924_orig.jpg?crop=5463,5464,x0,y528&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741556999665","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9938924"},{"teacherId":9906149,"projectId":9078076,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for your generous donations that provided the desk for my classroom through DonorsChoose. Thanks to your support, my students now have access to a dedicated writing center that has truly transformed the way they approach writing.\r\n\r\nThe new desk has allowed me to create an organized and inviting space where my students can focus their creative energy and become more comfortable with writing in all forms. The students have been using it to create birthday cards for their siblings, letters for their parents, and have used the various tools to create beautiful pictures with words on them. Having a dedicated space for this creative work made a huge difference—it gave them the room they needed to spread out and think deeply about their ideas.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new desk, their reactions were filled with excitement! They were thrilled not just by the desk itself, but by the various tools it enabled us to incorporate into our classroom. With the desk's ample surface area, we were able to bring in letter stamps, stencils, colorful pens, highlighters, and cards/letters, which allowed the students to express themselves creatively while working on their writing. The students couldn't wait to try out these new materials, and they immediately started planning how they could use them in their projects. They were so excited that they even came up with a timer system so everyone could take turns using the writing center! It was amazing to see them work together to make sure everyone had a chance to use the space, and it showed how much they valued having this special area to work in.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the writing center will continue to play a crucial role in my classroom. While my main goal was to provide space for them to get excited about writing and creating, it has been nice having a place where students can strengthen their fine motor skills and having a place where I can post visuals and practice projects to help reinforce what the students are learning. \r\n\r\nYour donation has made such a positive impact, not only in providing us with the resources to create this writing center but also in fostering an environment where my students are inspired to write and collaborate. Thank you for giving them the tools they need to thrive. I truly appreciate your generosity and continued support.","fullyFundedDate":1738177795834,"projectUrl":"project/writing-center/9078076/","projectTitle":"Writing Center","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kady","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9906149"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_126171","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":66,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":7,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 7","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":59.2,"schoolId":126171,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about ACES Technical Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"ACES Technical Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/new-mexico-department-of-education/aces-technical-charter-school/126171"}
