Because of your donation, my students were able to use high-quality paper and watercolor materials to create expressive projects like our Facebook identity portraits and watercolor relief artworks. These projects asked students to think critically about who they are, how they present themselves to the world, and how art can communicate ideas beyond words. The new supplies allowed students to layer, experiment, and take creative risks—something that isn't always possible with limited materials.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, there was an immediate sense of excitement and ownership. Many commented on how \"real\" the supplies felt and were eager to get started. During the Facebook portrait project, students carefully crafted facial features and expressions, leading to thoughtful conversations about identity, representation, and social media. In the watercolor relief project, students were thrilled to see how the resist techniques revealed bold colors and textures, turning experimentation into moments of surprise and pride.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue building on these skills by exploring more advanced watercolor techniques and mixed-media projects that emphasize personal voice and problem-solving. Because of your support, our art room is a place where students feel empowered to explore, reflect, and express themselves creatively.
