We have a soft start to our day each morning where students are able to choose a morning tub to play. Each morning tub was created to support fine motor skill development and/or support academic skills in math and reading as well. The students were so excited to see the new fine motor materials in our morning tubs once I put them all out. They immediately were engaged in playing and using all of the items and have continued to engage with all the wonderful materials every day. \r\n\r\nI was especially pleased to see some students who had been a bit more reluctant in choosing a morning tub engage with our new items. One student in particular has gravitated towards the letter bots and uses those daily. They have supported his fine motor development as well as encouraging him to identify the letters of the alphabet. It is going to help us also keep track of what gets turned in throughout the week. \r\n\r\nMy students have not seen the materials yet because it came in right after they were dismissed for Thanksgiving break. However, they were told about the materials on the way and they couldn't me more thrilled. Our state has a Hot Air Balloon Fiesta every year, so students were able to design their own Hot Air Balloon out of fuse beads. The first balloon they created had to be either cool colors or warm colors. This was a skill that I noticed they needed practice on and this project allowed for a fun way to practice. We will use the fuse beads throughout the year for other projects as well.
