Students had big cheeky grins and waves of chatter rippled through the crowd as they discussed what they thought was below the table cloth. Then, voila! A new experiment station was revealed! \r\n\r\nTheir reaction was priceless - some classes said \"Ooooh\" and some said \"Ahhhhhh\" and others said \"Let's go!\". A month later, almost every student in grades K, 1, and 2 had a chance to experiment with mixing colors in test tubes, floating paper clips with surface tension, or investigating how many drops of water a penny can hold. The students are pros at asking questions and doing tests to find answers. They made some amazing colors by mixing on their own, including blue-gray, bronze, purplish-red, brown, \"sea-green\" and of course orange, green, and purple. They are really taking an interest in the new learning station and are developing fine motor skills with pouring from measuring cups and using pipettes as tools. \r\n\r\nTo my surprise, now that we are doing some free choice stations, many students want to come back and repeat the same experiments a second time! In the next 2 weeks, a new experiment called Oobleck will begin, where students can explore a gooey corn starch substance with properties of both a liquid and a solid.
