The technology you helped provide is changing how our students experience school. In our classroom, technology isn't just something students use—it's something they learn through. They problem-solve when systems don't work, communicate clearly with teammates, analyze strategies, and reflect on what they could do better next time. These tools help them build academic skills like critical thinking, communication, and perseverance in a way that feels meaningful and exciting to them.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is that this technology feels relevant to their world. They see themselves in it. They light up when they realize school can include their interests and strengths. Some of our students who struggled to stay engaged before are now leaders—coaching teammates, explaining strategies, and helping others troubleshoot. Students who were once quiet now speak with confidence. For many, this is the first time school has felt like a place where they truly belong.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest impacts is that, in a very low socioeconomic school, this project gives students access to tools that keep them mainstream. They no longer feel \"behind\" or left out—they feel current, capable, and proud. Esports has allowed students to show who they really are, what they love, and what they're good at. It supports social-emotional learning by helping students feel seen, relevant, and connected. Through this program, we are being culturally responsive to this new generation of learners—and our students know it.","fullyFundedDate":1760469602432,"projectUrl":"project/leveling-the-playing-field-esports-for/9542287/","projectTitle":"Leveling the Playing Field: Esports for Learning and Leadership","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gomez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1941776_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1472269099087","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1941776"},{"teacherId":7631925,"projectId":8978074,"letterContent":"WOW! What a gift you have given to my 6, 7, and 8 year olds. The Chomp Saw quickly became as accessible tool for all of my students to create the shapes they wanted to cut on their own. We have been working on structures for the past 2 weeks, offering no guidelines except they have to be able to explain what it is to their peers and they need to be able to make it on their own, 100%. \r\n We have homes with pools, parkour playgrounds, skyscrapers, farms, cell towers, abandoned bridges, and more. Children have inspired others to add to their creations by telling stories about what they would do in their structures if they could. At first, we saw lots of squares and rectangles being cut, but as soon as one student discovered how to make more complex cuts, everyone wanted to try it. THIS IS HOW YOU TEACH CREATIVITY! Children experimenting, conceiving stories, and taking inspiration from others around them.\r\n What is most exciting about the Chomp Saw is the independence the students feel when working with it. They love the safety and versatility of it, as well. I couldn't have asked for a better tool for them. Mil gracias!!!
