Wind chimes will introduce calming sounds that encourage mindfulness and relaxation. Rain gauges will allow students to observe and measure rainfall while learning about weather, plant growth, and the importance of water in agriculture. Children's gardening gloves will give our young learners the tools they need to plant, tend, and care for our garden.\r\n\r\nCreating stepping stones will allow students to express their creativity. Compost bins will teach them about recycling organic materials, reducing waste, and enriching the soil. Garden-related books will connect literacy with agriculture, encouraging students to read, explore, and learn more about plants and the natural world.\r\nMost importantly, our sensory garden will provide opportunities for students to practice self-regulation, mindfulness, patience, responsibility, and teamwork. Engaging their senses and spending time outdoors can help students pause, refocus, and develop healthy strategies for managing their emotions. Our garden will be an outdoor classroom where academic learning and emotional growth flourish together.\r\n\r\nAs a second-grade teacher at Patton J. Hill Elementary School in Trenton, I want my students to understand that just as plants need care, time, and the right conditions to thrive, children need nurturing environments and opportunities to grow. These books have provided new and exciting discussions about reading.\r\n\r\nStudents have been so excited to not only read these books, but they have been eager to share reviews of these books and make recommendations. They are able to play engaging Math games, and interact with videos supporting our Science curriculum. Students are able to find and clean up materials very easily.
