They immediately began building tall towers, colorful houses, and even castles. Within minutes, small groups of students were working together, planning what to build next and proudly sharing their creations with classmates.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite classroom moments was during center time when students worked together to build a \"kindergarten city.\" Some students created buildings and bridges with the magnetic tiles while others used the magnetic letters to label their buildings with words they were learning in class. Another group used the magnetic number tiles to create house numbers and practice counting the buildings they made.\r\n\r\nThese materials have quickly become an important part of our daily centers. Students use the magnetic letter tiles to build CVC words and practice sight words, while the number tiles help them explore counting, number combinations, and simple math concepts. The building tiles encourage creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving as students design and redesign their structures.\r\n\r\nNext, we plan to continue integrating the materials into our STEM and literacy lessons. Students will work in small groups to design stronger and taller structures, create word-building challenges, and use the number tiles during math centers to explore number sense and early addition concepts.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our kindergarten students now have engaging tools that inspire creativity, collaboration, and a love of learning every day.","fullyFundedDate":1771875827961,"projectUrl":"project/little-hands-big-stem-dreams/10096300/","projectTitle":"Little Hands, Big STEM Dreams","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Zakar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5684920_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1548104684303","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5684920"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81996","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":384,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":42,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":66,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.1,"schoolId":81996,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pine Beach Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pine Beach Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/toms-river-regional-school-district/pine-beach-elementary-school/81996"}
