Thanks to your support, we were able to create a safe, welcoming space that will serve families in need within our school community.\r\n\r\nWhen I shared the news with my students that our project had been funded, their excitement was immediate and contagious. They could not wait to begin organizing the items and decorating what they lovingly call \"our little pantry.\" Watching them take pride in something that would help others was truly inspiring. The moment we opened the boxes of supplies, the students' eyes lit up—they immediately began discussing how to sort items and made poster to make the pantry look inviting to all.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out to me was when a few students quietly approached me with their own small donations to add to the pantry. They told me they wanted to help make sure \"everyone has what they need.\" It was a powerful reminder of how meaningful this project is—not only for the families who will receive support, but for the students who are learning empathy, responsibility, and the value of giving back.\r\n\r\nThis has become an important leadership opportunity in our classroom, giving them a sense of ownership and belonging as students take turns to check the pantry and organize it as needed. It has also sparked meaningful conversations about community, kindness, and what it means to support one another.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, our next steps are to involve our larger school community—students, families, and staff—by starting an ongoing donation program to keep our pantry stocked throughout the year. Their enthusiasm has grown into a school-wide initiative, and we are excited to continue building this together.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our project and for giving our students the opportunity to make a real difference. Your kindness has not only filled our shelves—it has filled our hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1762874357750,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-for-success/9882555/","projectTitle":"Snacks for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jiménez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6601573"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82292","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":422,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":88,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.8,"schoolId":82292,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about DeWitt D Barlow Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"DeWitt D Barlow Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/plainfield-public-school-district/dewitt-d-barlow-elementary-school/82292"}
