Since I am transitioning from teaching middle school to second grade, I was starting my classroom library from scratch. Your donations have helped me create a more inviting classroom library with books that appeal to different reading levels and interests.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited to see the new books! They especially love having more choices during independent reading time. The Junie B. Jones chapter books, graphic novels, and National Geographic nonfiction readers give students opportunities to explore different genres and discover books they enjoy. We are also using the new materials during small-group instruction, partner reading, and language arts activities. The I Have, Who Has? games are a fun way for students to practice their skills while working together.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, we will focus on building reading stamina, improving fluency, making connections to what we read, and sharing our favorite books with classmates. My goal is for every student to find books that make them excited to read and help them become more confident, independent readers.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for supporting my students and helping me build a classroom library where a love of reading can grow. The rotating bookshelf gives students easy access to books during independent reading and literacy centers, while the 6-cube storage unit helps keep classroom materials organized and accessible. The standing desk provides students with a flexible workspace option when they benefit from changing their position while learning. When the materials arrived, our students were so excited to explore the new bookshelf and help organize our classroom. They were especially excited to choose books and have new spaces where they could independently access the materials they need.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these resources to build independence and encourage students to take ownership of their learning. Students will use the bookshelf during literacy activities and independent reading while practicing making choices and caring for classroom materials. We will also continue teaching students routines for getting materials, completing activities, cleaning up, and transitioning independently. The fidgets have helped students regulate themselves when they are feeling overwhelmed. The fidgets have also helped keep students focused while learning. \r\n\r\nThe expo markers were used right away as we replaced our dried out markers with fresh ones.\r\n\r\nThe antibacterial wipes helped keep our classroom sanitized this winter with minimal illnesses. \r\n\r\nAll donations were greatly appreciated and the students enjoyed receiving packages.
