I used a PA system for the first time last year because one of my students had it in his IEP. At first I was a little hesitant to use it, but once I did, I noticed the benefits of using it with all my students. I was able to better capture and hold their attention, they participated more because they liked speaking into the microphone, and students could hear me from anywhere in the room. Your donation towards a PA system will show that hearing assistive technology does not only have to be for students with IEPs. The PA system that the school let me use was taken at the end of the last school year to move up with the student to his next grade. I no longer have one in my room, and I feel that my students this year would benefit from one. I have seen first hand how just having a portable speaker to raise the volume of my voice and students' voices increases student academic performance and focus for everyone.
