When I showed our Art Elective and Arts students the benches they were so excited! When they saw that they were going to make a plan to design the tiles in a motif and glue them onto the benches, they started their sketches right away! It took a very long time though since gluing each piece on one by one was very tedious. The students still haven't finished, but are getting close to being done. The benches look beautiful in the garden! \r\n\r\nThis was a great way for our students to create a design and experience art as real designers in a different way than they are used to. It also fostered collaboration with each other which dives into social emotional learning. They are enhancing their social skills by cooperation among their peers and building community in our classroom. Their designs are detailed and intricate and they are so proud of their work. They are especially excited to see these benches displayed outside in the school garden!
