These books were carefully selected to appeal to a range of interests and reading levels, with the goal of sparking a love of reading as my students transition into middle school. For many of them, this was the first time they had a personal collection of books to call their own. Having access to books at home gives students the chance to explore stories at their own pace, revisit favorite passages, and share what they're reading with family and friends. It's a powerful step in building confidence and identity as readers.\r\n\r\nIn the classroom, we focus on developing key reading skills such as making inferences, understanding character motivation, and recognizing themes that connect across different stories and genres. These books offered rich opportunities to reinforce those skills. For example, some students connected with stories of perseverance and friendship, while others were drawn to mysteries or fantasy. They were truly so excited receiving all of the books to take home. These are the kinds of moments your support made possible, and I can't thank you enough for helping us end the year with such a meaningful gift.","fullyFundedDate":1744290661670,"projectUrl":"project/preparing-5th-graders-for-a-lifetime-of/9245789/","projectTitle":"Preparing 5th Graders for a Lifetime of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fox","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9993735_orig.jpg?crop=2943,2943,x0,y947&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762637126881","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9993735"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81958","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":864,"numTeachers":59,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":56,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":92.9,"schoolId":81958,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Switlik Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Switlik Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/jackson-township-school-district/switlik-elementary-school/81958"}
