They are having so much fun building all different types of items and using them in class. Some students have followed the instructions for the different builds and some have decided to come up with new items. They are going to have great creative thinking moving forward and I can't wait to see what they come up with next. Unpacking the boxes together, we realized just how lucky we are. About half of my class usually don't have their own snack, but now that has all changed. Everyday students are provided with snacks to keep them energized and working.\r\n Similarly, students now have access to certain health and hygiene amenities which makes our days so much easier. Instead of visiting the nurse every day (for a band aid, chapstick, toothbrush, hair tie, etc), students can now independently care for their needs using our \"necessities cabinet\". This cuts down on any extra time not being spent in the classroom and thus not learning. It also allows students to take ownership of their health and not feel any embarrassment if they don't have access to certain things at home. \r\n Truly your donations have made our class feel like home. We are able to focus on academics without any distractions and students can also care for themselves in the process. Many of you use technology in your daily lives, but seeing it in action within a classroom setting is truly remarkable. When using the Tone Box my students are developing essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration all while exploring in a more engaging and interactive way.\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects for my students has been the ability to take control of their own learning. They love the interactive nature of the tone box which allows them to explore at their own pace and interact with their peers through music and storytelling. They are more motivated than ever to play in our literacy center everyday and it is so much fun to see!\r\nI have even seen some students particularly thrive while using the tone box. For example my students who have struggled engaging with others and participating in shared experiences have found confidence through interacting with others using the tone box. Doing things such as acting out the stories and pretending to be different roles have allowed them to express their ideas in new and creative ways.\r\nYour support is not only bringing technology into my classroom, it's also opening doors, building confidence, and inspiring a love for learning. My students and I have been utilizing these resources during our therapy sessions, including reading the new books and playing with the new toys, in order to expand their language comprehension and use. Several of my 3- and 4- year old preschool students absolutely love numbers and colors. The picnic basket sorting has been super motivating for these students. During our sessions, while using this toy, the students have practiced using the phrases \"open blue\" or \"open two\" and have expanded their language in a naturalistic play setting. \r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were super excited. My older school-aged students, with more advanced language, asked if they could see and open them. My students who did not have the words to request to play with the toys, handed them to me instead in order for me to open them. This created opportunities to model language!\r\nMy students and I are truly grateful for the impact your generous donation has had on our speech therapy environment.","fullyFundedDate":1733431458893,"projectUrl":"project/read-play-and-progress-expanding-spee/8771877/","projectTitle":"Read, Play, and Progress: Expanding Speech & Language Development!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tenenbaum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3451411_orig.jpg?crop=561,561,x76,y86&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726254869503","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3451411"},{"teacherId":9070203,"projectId":8755637,"letterContent":"My students and I are so honored that you have chosen to donate to our classroom. It is always incredibly exciting to work with new materials for both the students and myself. As a speech therapist working in a school with students that do not all have access to an abundance of toys/games/activities at home, it is so fulfilling to expose them to these things in the school setting. Your generosity has allowed this to be possible! \r\n\r\nSince receiving my new materials, they have already been incorporated into my speech sessions! The students are so excited to have new toys, games, and books and have been so engaged each time they come! So far- we have used and are loving the \"On Your Spark\" game to target labeling, categorizing, and speech sound goals, the \"Jenga- Super Mario\" game as a reinforcement while working on speech sounds, and the \" magnetic wooden fishing game\" in pre-k to target turn taking, labeling, expanding utterances, etc. These are only a few of the many materials that will be used throughout the school year. \r\n\r\nWith my new materials, I know I can continue to make speech therapy sessions fun and exciting and inspire my students to achieve their speech and language goals and allow them to flourish in their overall communication skills.
