The register and laminator, in particular, are helping our students develop important life skills. The register allows them to practice real-world math, communication, and social interactions, while the laminator helps us create durable visual supports and materials that make learning more accessible and consistent for our students.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been the opportunity to role-play real-life experiences. They love taking on jobs like cashier or customer, and using the register makes it feel authentic and engaging. Some students who typically struggle with communication have become more motivated and interactive during these activities. For example, one student who is usually very reserved has begun initiating interactions during checkout, while another has taken pride in the cashier role, practicing counting and greeting others with growing confidence.\r\n\r\nYour donation is truly making a difference by helping our students build independence, confidence, and essential life skills. This project has provided the \"brain fuel\" necessary for my students to stay engaged and sharp throughout the school day. I have seen a measurable increase in classroom stamina and participation since these snacks became available. Instead of being distracted by physical discomfort, my students are now able to dedicate their full attention to our daily objectives and collaborative discussions.\r\nBecause of these donations, I have been able to create a classroom environment that prioritizes the well-being of the whole student. I can now address a basic need immediately without disrupting the flow of a lesson or sending a student out of the room. This has allowed us to maintain a high level of academic rigor in my English and Film Analysis courses because the barrier of hunger has been removed. Providing these small snacks has also helped build a stronger sense of community and trust; my students know that their needs are seen and met, which makes them more willing to take risks in their writing and analysis.","fullyFundedDate":1772550483719,"projectUrl":"project/a-small-snack-that-makes-a-big-differenc/10023735/","projectTitle":"A Small Snack That Makes a Big Difference","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Stefanelli","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3637807_orig.jpg?crop=1620,1620,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1583620168535","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/stefanelli"},{"teacherId":3637807,"projectId":9857076,"letterContent":"Thank you for your incredible generosity. Now, these books are front and center, acting as a visual invitation for my students to engage with new perspectives.\r\n\r\nThe most significant change has been our ability to align our classroom library with Monthly History Themes. This targeted approach has turned our reading corner into an evolving gallery of voices.\r\n\r\nIn February, our Black History Month display led to a record number of book checkouts. Students who usually hesitate to browse were drawn in by the powerful cover art and featured titles.\r\n\r\nCurrently, our shelves are dedicated to Women's History Month. Seeing the contributions of women in literature and film displayed so prominently has sparked meaningful dialogue among my English I and Film Analysis students.\r\n\r\nThese shelves allow me to ensure that every student at Brick Memorial High School sees themselves reflected in the literature we highlight. By rotating these displays, the room feels fresh, relevant, and inclusive.\r\n\r\nYour support did more than just provide furniture; you provided a stage for stories that deserve to be told. In a high school setting, students sometimes feel they have to outgrow the need for \"play\" or comfort, but the moment I opened the container of Nee Doh fidgets, their faces lit up. There was an immediate \"vibe shift\" in the room. One student remarked that it finally felt like the classroom was a space that understood how much pressure they are under. The snacks were an even bigger hit; within minutes, the students who had missed breakfast or had a late lunch were able to fuel up and focus without the distraction of hunger.\r\n\r\nWe are currently in the middle of a very demanding unit on rhetorical analysis. My students are learning to deconstruct complex speeches and texts to identify how authors use language to persuade. This is a rigorous part of the English I College Prep curriculum that requires a significant amount of writing and deep thinking.\r\n\r\nI want to share a specific moment from last week: we were working on a particularly dense passage, and the class was deep into a timed writing assignment. In the past, this kind of high-pressure writing usually leads to a lot of foot-tapping, ceiling-staring, and visible anxiety. Instead, the room was focused and calm. I looked around and saw students with a pen in one hand and a Nee Doh in the other, squeezing away their stress while they composed their body paragraphs. It was a perfect example of how these simple resources allow them to stay present and productive during difficult academic tasks.\r\n\r\nAs for our next steps, my students are moving from analyzing the rhetoric of others to crafting their own persuasive arguments. They will be using the \"tools of the trade\" they have learned to write a formal rhetorical analysis essay, which serves as a major benchmark for the semester. Because of your support, they are approaching this milestone with more confidence and fewer distractions.\r\n\r\nThank you for seeing the value in our classroom and for making sure my students feel cared for as they work toward their academic goals.","fullyFundedDate":1768336037406,"projectUrl":"project/calm-minds-full-stomachs-ready-to-lear/9927396/","projectTitle":"Calm Minds, Full Stomachs, Ready to Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Stefanelli","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3637807_orig.jpg?crop=1620,1620,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1583620168535","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/stefanelli"},{"teacherId":7234898,"projectId":10024998,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your kindness in ensuring that my students have the most basic belongings and tools they need to succeed. Having snacks readily available in the classroom has transformed our daily environment in ways I didn't fully anticipate.\r\n\r\nStudents walk in knowing their basic needs are met, and that comfort has created a calmer, more welcoming atmosphere. When someone is hungry, it's hard to focus on Shakespeare's language or tackle a challenging writing assignment. Now, instead of battling distractions, students are more alert, more engaged, and more confident participating in discussions. In Shakespeare Honors, I've noticed stronger conversations and sharper insights. In English I, students settle in more quickly and stay focused longer, which has led to stronger work and more consistent effort.\r\n\r\nWhat means the most is how your support has helped foster a sense of care and community. The snacks have become a small but meaningful reminder that their well-being matters, and that there are people beyond our classroom who believe in them.\r\n\r\nThank you for making such a positive and tangible impact on our learning environment.
