As you know, we are title one school. The students are provided some type of fresh food or vegetable every day for snack if they do not bring one in. Many times, the students do not eat everything in a day and it's nice to have a refrigerator to put them in. It helps the extra food lasts much longer. It's also nice when a child comes in and needs something refrigerated. We don't have to walk all the way down to the cafeteria. It's much more convenient to have one in the classroom. I joined this school mid-year to find the band program needing some support, and instruments is the one major area of growth and opportunity for this room.\r\nAfter our holiday concert, there was a sudden surge of interest in both the chorus and band programs! It's every music teacher's dream to have a flourishing program and the one thing stopping this from happening is not enough working, functional instruments available for those that want to learn.\r\nThis flute has gone in the hands of a brand new band student, and she just so happened to be a natural! Once she figured out how to make sound on the flute, she has taken it upon herself to learn all the notes the others already know, how to play them, and how to read the music she'd been given.\r\nIt has been a joy to watch her have such immediate success. They were so proud of these projects and couldn't wait to hang them up outside our classroom for the whole school to see.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw all of this amazing supplies delivered to our classroom, they were so excited.
