Because of you, our FACS classroom has been transformed into a space where students can learn, practice, and take pride in real life skills that will stay with them far beyond middle school.\r\n\r\nYour donations of new aprons, towels, dish racks, and cookware are already being put to daily use. Students are cooking more independently and confidently, learning proper kitchen safety, and practicing responsibility through cleaning and organization. One of the most meaningful moments was watching students suit up in their new aprons for the first time and immediately take ownership of their workspace. It shifted their mindset from just another class to feeling like real chefs at work.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was instant. Students were eager to touch, explore, and use the new materials, and many commented on how professional the kitchen now feels. For some students, this is the first time they have ever used quality cookware or learned how to properly care for kitchen tools. That alone has sparked new interest and engagement across the classroom.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our current lessons are focused on meal preparation, teamwork, and cleanup routines that mirror real world kitchens. Next, students will build on these skills by planning simple meals, practicing knife safety, and learning how to work efficiently in groups. These lessons help develop confidence, independence, and life skills they will use at home and in the future.\r\n\r\nBy supporting this project, you gave our students more than supplies. You gave them confidence, pride in their work, and a glimpse into what they are capable of achieving. Thank you for investing in our classroom and in the future of these young chefs.","fullyFundedDate":1764005410371,"projectUrl":"project/future-chefs-in-action-cooking-up-skil/9876536/","projectTitle":"Future Chefs in Action: Cooking Up Skills for Life","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Movassaghi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9910394"},{"teacherId":9910372,"projectId":9084317,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation of a new sewing machine to the Fairgrounds Middle School sewing program. This incredible support has had a meaningful and immediate impact on our students' learning experience. With access to updated equipment, students were able to manage their time more efficiently and focus on mastering sewing skills without the frustrations caused by older, unreliable machines. As a result, every student successfully completed their 6x6 quilted pillow project on time—an accomplishment that boosted their confidence, creativity, and sense of achievement.","fullyFundedDate":1745689613140,"projectUrl":"project/sewing-for-success-empowering-students/9084317/","projectTitle":"Sewing for Success! One of our favorite moments so far was a breakfast lab where each group prepared pancakes, and smoothies. Having the right pans and enough utensils for everyone made the experience smoother and more enjoyable, and the new soap dispensers gave us a chance to practice safe and sanitary clean-up. The students loved serving their food to one another and felt proud of the teamwork it took to make it all happen.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, the classroom buzzed with excitement. Students gathered around to unpack everything and kept saying how the new tools made the kitchen feel like a \"real\" cooking space. Their faces lit up as they imagined all the recipes they'd now be able to try. That initial joy has stuck with them — every time we start a new project, they still talk about how lucky they feel to have everything they need to cook and clean like professionals.\r\n\r\nNext, we're moving into a unit on meal planning and nutrition, where students will design and cook their own balanced lunches. With your help, they now have the tools to not just make food, but to think about how to present it, portion it, and share it with others. They're so excited to take these next steps, and it's all possible because of your kindness and support. Your generosity didn't just give us supplies — it gave my students confidence, pride, and a real sense of possibility in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1745689612921,"projectUrl":"project/donate-today-to-teach-life-skills-that-e/9084410/","projectTitle":"Donate Today to Teach Life Skills That Empower Students' Futures!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Movassaghi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9910394"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_80261","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":586,"numTeachers":56,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":65.1,"schoolId":80261,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fairgrounds Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fairgrounds Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-hampshire/school-administrative-unit-42/fairgrounds-middle-school/80261"}
