Our local university has an up and coming notable film program that many students are interested in exploring. These camcorders will take students to the next level and better prepare them for their future endeavors in film studies at the higher education level.\r\n\r\nI have had several students who have reentered the film studies course now that these camcorders are available to use and enhance the learning they received without them being available before. These same students have also taken it upon themselves to create checkout and check-in processes for future students, label and catalog all parts that come with the camcorders, and create presentations on how to use the camcorders. \r\n\r\nThe film studies class at PVHS thank you so very much","fullyFundedDate":1768266954629,"projectUrl":"project/lights-camera-action/10009907/","projectTitle":"Lights, Camera, Action!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bailey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10402217_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768272619607","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10402217"},{"teacherId":10091591,"projectId":10009406,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity in bringing \"Focus & Flow: Sensory Solutions for Teens\" to life. My students and I are incredibly grateful for these resources, which have already begun to transform our classroom into a more inclusive and productive environment. We are currently using the sensory tools as part of our \"Daily Check-In\" routine; students can now select a tool—whether it's a weighted lap pad for grounding or a discreet fidget for tactile input—to help them regulate their energy before we dive into our academic lessons. One specific moment that stands out was during a recent silent reading block. A student who typically struggles to stay in their seat for more than five minutes used one of the new sensory seats and remained focused and engaged for the entire twenty-minute session. It was a small but profound victory for their confidence and learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the atmosphere in the room was electric. Teens can sometimes be reserved, but their excitement was undeniable as we unboxed the items together. They were particularly impressed by the \"grown-up\" design of the tools, noting that they felt like high-quality resources specifically chosen for their age group rather than \"little kid toys.\" One student remarked, \"It's like the room finally understands how my brain works,\" which really highlighted the immediate sense of validation and support your gift provided.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve integrating these sensory solutions into our upcoming collaborative group projects. We are starting a unit on community advocacy, which requires significant peer-to-peer communication and sustained focus. Students will be using their new resources to manage the overstimulation that often comes with group work, allowing them to contribute more effectively to their teams. I have some very creative art students who want to upgrade and continue their art to new heights. My students have excelled and achieved with the new art materials. I needed colored pencils and acrylic markers for my students to keep creating their awesome art and you stepped up. These materials have become our most essential tool for real-time assessment. During our guided practice, I can now ask the entire class to solve a problem and \"flash\" their boards. This provides me with immediate data on student understanding. Within seconds, I can identify which students have mastered the concept and which individuals require immediate one-on-one intervention to reinforce specific steps. This level of instant feedback was nearly impossible before, and it ensures that no student \"slips through the cracks\" during a lesson.\r\nTo top it off, the new magnetic borders and inspirational posters have made our classroom feel so much more inviting and professional. Previously, my work was largely tethered to a desktop in my office, which meant students had to take the intimidating step of coming to \"the office\" to seek help. Now, I am no longer confined by four walls. This portability allows me to be present in the hallways during passing periods and, most importantly, accessible in the cafeteria during lunch. By meeting students in their own environment, I've been able to break down the traditional barriers of school counseling, making our interactions feel more natural and less formal.\r\n\r\nThe impact on the students has been immediate and incredibly positive. I can now pull up academic records, college applications, or mental health resources right there in the hall or at a lunch table. Students who might have been hesitant to schedule an appointment are now approaching me for \"quick questions\" that often turn into meaningful guidance sessions. Pahrump Valley High School is a TItle 1 school with all students receiving free lunch and breakfast. I am watching my students work on their new tables and for the first time all year, they seem comfortable. They are working on an online lab right now and they are at ease with their laptops on the table. Prior to this, they would struggle to even keep the laptops on their very small and slanted desks. Every class period would see at least 1 or 2 laptops plummeting to the ground because the student would let go for a minute and it would just slide off. They are all comfortable in the new chairs and working at ease. \r\n\r\nI teach science and try to have hands-on labs as often as possible. My room has 5 built in lab pods that seat 4 students each. The pods originally had sinks with 2 faucets, but those were dismantled years ago, leaving a useless hole. I have a combination lab/classroom, and have had to put students at the lap pods during regular class time due to not having enough regular seats. The classroom portion of my setup had 20 old,small desks with slanted tops. Having to use the lab pods as normal seating meant that I was never able to prepare for a lab and have it set up prior to the students arriving. I will now be able to prepare for labs prior to class. \r\n\r\nAs this day moves on and I see my students being comfortable at the new tables and in their new seats, I wish I would have done this last year. I did ask the school, multiple times, if I could have lab tables and kept being told that there were no funds for new furniture. When I submitted my DonorsChoose project, I honestly did not think that I would be funded. I was so excited when somebody told me that they were going to donate, but that it was already fully funded. My heart jumped with joy for my students. Everything happened so fast and within a week I was getting my order. Some friends came and helped me assemble the tables and I could not be happier with the results. My students actually have a good set up now, thanks to you. From the bottom of my heart, I say thank you. \r\n\r\nSincerely, \r\nNora Bond","fullyFundedDate":1742960240064,"projectUrl":"project/refit-science-lab-room-with-work-benches/9204068/","projectTitle":"Refit Science Lab Room With Work Benches and Chairs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bond","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7162922_orig.jpg?crop=848,848,x0,y36&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742780649082","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7162922"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83060","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1325,"numTeachers":50,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":33,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"26.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":60.8,"schoolId":83060,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pahrump Valley High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pahrump Valley High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/nye-county-school-district/pahrump-valley-high-school/83060"}
