Students have learned technical skills that they will be able to carry towards real world application if they choose to pursue a career in technical theater. Having equipment that is close to industry standard helps give that exposure and they have been able to get hands on exposure. We have moved towards nearly 100% student ran technology for our shows, and have trained a few technicians so that they can help where needed. When the first issue arrived, students were genuinely excited, they flipped through the pages during advisory and started asking questions before we even began the lesson. Many said it felt \"more real than a textbook,\" and they were especially drawn to the maps, current events, and global stories. It created an instant buzz and gave us a perfect launch point for thoughtful discussions.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the magazines to build connections between world geography, current events, and literacy skills. During a recent unit on global interdependence, students used an article about climate migration to identify causes and consequences of displacement, then traced the movement of people on a map and wrote short position statements. These activities aligned perfectly with our state geography and ELA standards, helping students develop critical thinking, spatial awareness, and empathy—all while improving reading fluency and analysis. The nonfiction text features and vocabulary tools in each issue have been especially helpful for supporting deeper comprehension.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to use the magazine's archived articles and case studies to support student research projects on environmental justice and regional conflicts. Students will be choosing a country to explore in depth, analyzing how geography, politics, and culture intersect. Your donation didn't just fund a magazine, it gave students access to the real world, encouraged inquiry, and made academic learning feel meaningful.
