Because of your generosity, our kindergarten classroom is now filled with bright, hands-on literacy resources that are completely transforming how my students learn to read.\r\n\r\nWhen the large boxes arrived and we opened them together, my students were absolutely ecstatic. Their eyes lit up seeing the colorful magnetic letters, word-building mats, and tactile phonics games. One student squealed, \"Are these toys for us?!\" I told them they were special reading tools, and they couldn't wait to roll up their sleeves and get their hands on them. The sheer excitement turned our regular morning routine into a celebration of learning.\r\n\r\nWe are using these resources every single day during our small-group reading rotations. A specific favorite classroom moment happened just this week during our sound-blending lesson.\r\n\r\nUsing the new tactile CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) slider cards, my students practiced blending simple letter sounds together. One of my quietest learners, who has been struggling to connect letter sounds to full words, used his finger to slide across the card: /c/ /a/ /t/. Suddenly, his face erupted into the biggest smile as he yelled, \"Cat! Teacher, I read it!\" Having the physical, colorful materials to touch and move makes these abstract concepts concrete for five-year-olds.\r\n\r\nNow that my students have mastered identifying individual letter sounds and simple three-letter words, our next step is to introduce consonant blends and sight words. We will be using our new phonics resources to play word-building games, challenging the students to change just one letter to make a brand-new word (like changing cat to sat, or sat to mat). They are building confidence and independence so quickly, and they truly see themselves as real readers now!\r\nThank you for giving my young learners the foundational keys to literacy. You have made an unforgettable impact on their education.","fullyFundedDate":1778068734140,"projectUrl":"project/the-phonics-of-reading/10043611/","projectTitle":"The Phonics of Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bisplinghoff","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9504400"},{"teacherId":5168604,"projectId":10582238,"letterContent":"The students in my class are excited every time they use their new headphones. These resources have become a special way to celebrate students when they work hard, complete challenging assignments, show kindness, participate in class, or demonstrate a growth mindset. Even a small treat can bring a huge smile and give students that extra encouragement to keep trying.\r\nOne of my favorite moments has been watching students proudly earn a reward after completing a challenging learning activity. Instead of giving up when something feels difficult, students are beginning to understand that effort and persistence matter. They love celebrating their accomplishments, and the positive reinforcement has helped make our classroom feel even more motivating and welcoming.\r\nAs we continue through the school year, students will be working on becoming more independent learners, strengthening their reading and math skills, collaborating with classmates, and taking pride in their growth. The snacks give us a much-needed energy boost during afternoon transitions, the crayons are used every morning for our writing and drawing journals, and the prizes are perfect for celebrating positive behavior.A specific moment that stands out happened last week during our writing center time. The students were using their brand-new crayons to color, and the room was filled with quiet focus. One of my students proudly held up a beautifully colored picture of a rainbow and said, \"Look, teacher, my crayons are brand new and so bright!\" It was wonderful to see how much pride they took in having quality materials to work with.😍 The Students' Initial ReactionWhen the boxes arrived, the kids were absolutely thrilled!
