Your generosity has had an incredible impact on my students, who are just beginning their educational journey and, for many, experiencing a school setting for the first time. Because of your support, they now have engaging, hands-on materials that encourage curiosity, creativity, communication, problem-solving, and independence. The day the materials arrived was filled with excitement as students gathered around, asked questions, and eagerly talked about how they wanted to use them. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and even students who are typically quiet or hesitant became excited to participate.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these resources, we have incorporated them into our daily centers, small-group lessons, and whole-group activities. They support early literacy, mathematics, social-emotional learning, fine-motor development, problem-solving, and collaborative play. One particularly memorable moment occurred during center time when students worked together to build, create, and solve problems. They shared materials, took turns, communicated their ideas, and celebrated one another's successes. Watching students who entered the school year as strangers learn to cooperate and develop friendships has been incredibly rewarding. The materials also encourage students to make choices, ask questions, make predictions, test ideas, and learn through discovery, helping them build confidence and a genuine love of learning.\r\n\r\nAs a Nevada Ready! State Pre-K classroom, we focus on developing foundational skills that prepare students for future academic success. Your donated materials provide meaningful opportunities to strengthen language, mathematical thinking, fine-motor skills, social-emotional development, and independence while allowing us to observe and support each child's growth. We are excited to continue using these resources throughout the school year during literacy activities, math explorations, science discoveries, and collaborative learning experiences. Your donation has provided so much more than classroom supplies, you have created opportunities for our young learners to explore, connect, discover, and grow. A few of them immediately ran over to sit down, running their hands over it and shouting, \"It's so soft!\" They were amazed to learn that kind people they have never met sent this beautiful gift specifically to our first-grade classroom. \r\n\r\nWe now use this rug every single day as our central hub for community and learning. During our recent morning meeting, every student had their own designated spot to sit comfortably for the very first time. Instead of squishing together on the hard floor, they sat proudly on the rug while taking turns sharing stories and practicing our daily phonics sounds. It has created a defined, cozy space where they can focus beautifully without bumping into one another.\r\n\r\nHaving this rug makes it seamless to transition from desk work to group learning, keeping my first graders engaged and eager to learn. Your support has already made such a positive impact on my students, and we are truly grateful for your kindness.\r\n\r\nWe use the supply cups every day to organize our markers, and the students absolutely loved that the colors were coordinated with their table colors. Having organized supplies at each table has helped students become more independent and responsible during art projects and classroom activities. They were so excited to help sort the markers and proudly place the cups on their tables.\r\n\r\nThe students were also thrilled to receive the stools for our rainbow table. Having new seating for our small-group instruction time made the area feel extra special and welcoming. The students could not wait to sit at the table, and they were excited to have a comfortable new spot where we work together on reading and math skills.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful moments was when I used the privacy dividers for the first time during an assessment. As our elementary students progress to middle school, many may wish to try volleyball, which is a competitive sport; I want to ensure they have the option to participate. The softer volleyballs were well received — students found them easier to strike and gentler on the forearms. Smaller practice groups also allowed for increased repetitions for each student.\r\n\r\nInstructionally, a progressive, game-centered approach begins with bumping (pass), the foundational skill that develops ball control and promotes teamwork. Setting builds on passing by strengthening hand–eye coordination and correct body positioning. Spiking introduces offensive power, timing, and technique, while serving starts play and fosters individual responsibility and control.\r\n\r\nThis sequence is effective because it systematically builds confidence: learners begin with simpler tasks and advance to more complex actions, while practicing skills in realistic game contexts rather than only in isolation. Game-like activities increase engagement and motivation compared with repetitive drills and cultivate tactical decision-making so students understand when and why to apply each skill, not just how to perform it.\r\n\r\nFor elementary physical education, this progression is developmentally appropriate: these four skills are attainable for young learners. The pathway is inclusive, enabling different students to demonstrate strengths in different areas, and emphasizes cooperation, since volleyball inherently relies on teamwork. Additionally, the game-based format is enjoyable and social, supporting high levels of energy and participation.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity; we appreciate the opportunity to introduce and sustain this sport for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1769206967046,"projectUrl":"project/volleyball-bump-set-spike-repeat/10047813/","projectTitle":"Volleyball: Bump, Set, Spike, Repeat","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Frieling","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9368909"},{"teacherId":9368361,"projectId":10040125,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom a few months ago. He is willing to try one and two-step word problems now, and his skills are increasing because he is practicing more and the mental block he had built up is disintegrating. Adding science equipment to the classroom, such as microscopes and slides, safety goggles, and hands-on experiments like fruit battery kits, can significantly deepen students' understanding of scientific concepts. The microscopes and slides have already made a meaningful impact, allowing students to explore the microscopic world in a hands-on and engaging way.\r\n\r\nInstead of only reading about cells or electricity, students are able to directly observe and experiment, which makes learning more concrete and memorable. Microscopes allow learners to explore details that are otherwise invisible, fostering curiosity and critical thinking. Similarly, safety equipment like goggles also plays an important role by creating a structured environment where students can experiment confidently and responsibly.\r\n\r\nYour thoughtful contribution goes beyond science learning alone. The addition of cushions and headphones has helped create a more comfortable and focused classroom environment for all students. Students are not just consuming information; they are designing, testing, and improving their own creations. This process strengthens their understanding of math, science, and engineering concepts while also encouraging perseverance and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been seeing their ideas come to life. From designing simple objects to creating prototypes that solve real problems, students are highly engaged and motivated.
