If you walk into my room you will hear the buzz of little kindergartens practicing language arts and math skills in small groups. Working together independently (non-teacher led) teaches my students how to communicate, share, and work as a team to complete an activity. My small groups are mixed with diverse learners, where each student brings strengths to the group. They must use those strengths to help each other through the activity. My students are actively engage in learning activities disguised as play. These center activities such as Language Instant Learning Centers, Early Math Instant Learning Centers, and Language Teaching Centers for Common Core Standards will continue to support and provide small group and independent practice. These game-like activities will help build and reinforce Kindergarten skills and standards through work and play.
