These resources have already become an important part of our classroom routines and give my students meaningful ways to regulate their bodies while staying engaged in learning. In our intermediate autism classroom, every student has different sensory and communication needs. A variety of sensory tools lets us offer students choices that work best for them.\r\n\r\nThe students were immediately excited and curious about our new materials. Some students wanted to try the chairs right away, while others were drawn to the Play-Doh and began exploring it through squeezing, rolling, and shaping it. What may seem like simple sensory materials has become a valuable tool that helps my students feel comfortable, focused, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to use these resources throughout our daily lessons and classroom routines. Students can use the spinning chairs or Play-Doh during sensory breaks, independent work, and transitions when they need additional support with regulation. Our next step is to continue teaching students how to recognize when they need a sensory break and appropriately choose a tool that helps them return to learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for providing my students with resources that make our classroom a more welcoming, supportive, and successful place to learn. Before your support, we lacked the specialized tactile tools needed to help struggling students bridge critical developmental gaps.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our daily \"finger gym\" centers are now stocked with premium therapeutic putty, precision tweezers, lacing beads, and ergonomic writing grips. We have seen extraordinary student growth over the last few weeks alone.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled to hold a crayon can now comfortably use a mature tripod grasp, significantly reducing their frustration during writing exercises.\r\nThe sensory bilateral hand activities have not only built hand strength but have also served as an excellent tool for self-regulation, lengthening students' attention spans during cognitive tasks.\r\n\r\nYour contribution did more than buy classroom supplies; you handed our students the physical tools they need to feel capable, confident, and successful every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1781969264775,"projectUrl":"project/putting-the-fine-in-fine-motor/10232588/","projectTitle":"Putting the Fine in Fine Motor","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pacl","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1469041"},{"teacherId":6620390,"projectId":10186714,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our library by providing us with a magnetic whiteboard! Many of our students experience sensory processing differences that make traditional seating challenging. By providing seating that allows for movement, pressure, or comfort, students are better able to meet their sensory needs in a safe and appropriate way, which directly supports their readiness to learn.\r\n\r\nIn addition to improved focus, sensory-friendly seating has contributed to a decrease in disruptive behaviors and an increase in student engagement. Students who previously struggled to remain seated or became overwhelmed during structured tasks are now demonstrating longer periods of participation and independence. This shift has also positively impacted peer interactions, as students are more regulated and available for social engagement. Overall, the classroom environment has become calmer, more inclusive, and better aligned with the diverse needs of our learners.\r\n\r\nSensory-friendly seating is more than a comfort—it is an essential support that promotes access to learning, emotional regulation, and student success. Continuing to provide and expand these options will allow us to meet students where they are and create an environment where all learners can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1768191942493,"projectUrl":"project/student-seating-for-sensory-success/10001028/","projectTitle":"Student Seating for Sensory Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beecher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8117140_orig.jpg?crop=320,320,x0,y40&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768107619973","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8117140"},{"teacherId":8159116,"projectId":10018458,"letterContent":"The math games and puppets have become instant favorites in our classroom.
