Because of your donations, my students now have access to snacks and classroom cleaning supplies that help make our learning environment more comfortable, welcoming, and ready for learning each day. These items might seem small, but they have had a big impact on our daily routine. When a student is hungry, it can be extremely difficult for them to focus on an assignment, communicate their needs, or stay engaged in a lesson. Having Pringles, crackers, cookies, and fruit snacks available gives me another way to support my students when they need a little extra boost during the school day.\r\n\r\nThe excitement on my students' faces when they saw all of the snacks was priceless! They loved seeing the different choices and quickly began deciding which ones they wanted to try. Snack time has also become an opportunity to practice important skills such as making choices, communicating wants and needs, waiting for a turn, and becoming more independent. In a special education classroom, learning does not only happen during a traditional reading or math lesson. Everyday routines can become meaningful opportunities for students to practice skills that will help them inside and outside of school.\r\n\r\nYour donations also provided disinfecting sprays, wipes, and fabric refresher that help me maintain a clean and comfortable classroom. My students use shared tables, chairs, technology, learning materials, and other classroom items throughout the day, so these supplies are being put to good use. Having them readily available allows us to clean frequently and keep our classroom feeling fresh and inviting.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building independence, communication, academic skills, and positive classroom routines. I want my classroom to be a place where students know their needs matter and where they can feel comfortable enough to learn, participate, and grow. I am a new teacher starting my career at a much later stage in life than my peers. I work 3 jobs and am a single mother to three teens. Life is expensive without having to worry about building my dream classroom! \r\nThe resources from this Donors Choose project greatly improved our second semester of math instruction. There was a sense of awe and wonder the day the white board arrived. That gave us 50% more vertical work spaces for partner work! I am currently implementing SO MANY THINGS.... Building thinking classrooms and blending that with the magical discourse needed for quality instruction for english language learners.... we need tools. This project funded the white board and manipulatives I needed to help solidfy key concepts of second semester. \r\nThe snack cart was also VERY impactful for our classroom. We are a Title 1 school and there are a lot of students that do not focus as well as when they have something in their stomach. While we do provide free breakfast/lunch, some students do not have reliable transportation for those breakfasts and the lunches leave something to be desired on more days than not. Having a full cart of water, granola bars and fruit options does wonders. Before my magical cart arrived I was juggling boxes behind my desk and piles falling everywhere. Now I have an organized and always available option where students can help themselves to what they NEED. \r\nThank you from the bottom of my heart, and wallet, for the assistance my classroom needed! With the books and cozy materials provided through this project, students now have a special area in the classroom where reading feels safe, relaxing, and enjoyable rather than stressful or intimidating.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been especially noticeable with reluctant readers. Students who once avoided independent reading are now choosing to spend time in the Cozy Corner, flipping through books, sharing stories with classmates, and building confidence in their reading abilities. Having access to inviting seating, comforting materials, and engaging books has helped transform reading into a positive experience that students actually look forward to during the school day.\r\n\r\nThis project has done more than provide classroom materials—it has helped create a sense of belonging and excitement around literacy. Students are no longer just users of technology—they are creators. They are building robots, writing code, and seeing immediate results from their ideas. This hands-on approach helps them understand important concepts like sequencing, problem-solving, and cause-and-effect in a meaningful way. For many students, especially those who benefit from visual and hands-on learning, robotics has made computer science finally make sense.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is watching their ideas come to life. A robot moving exactly how it was programmed brings a level of excitement that is hard to replicate. Even when things don't work the first time, students stay engaged as they troubleshoot, revise, and try again. Confidence grows as they realize they can fix problems and improve their designs. The classroom has become a space filled with energy, collaboration, and a willingness to take risks in learning.\r\n\r\nThere has been noticeable growth across all learners, especially among special education students and those who previously struggled with traditional instruction. One student who rarely participated is now actively explaining their code to peers. Another who lacked confidence now takes the lead in helping others troubleshoot. They've been especially helpful during small group sessions, where students can build social-emotional skills in a more focused and supportive setting. Outdated equipment meant slow load times, unexpected crashes, and students losing work mid-assignment — especially stressful during online testing. Now, with the updated equipment your donation helped provide, our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders can focus on what actually matters: learning. Tests run smoothly, research projects move at a real pace, and students leave the lab feeling accomplished rather than defeated.\r\n\r\nWhat's been most rewarding to watch is the confidence this has sparked. One of my quieter students — someone who used to shut down the moment a computer froze on her — has become one of the most engaged kids in the room.
