This year our focus is on fostering, strong foundation and reading and writing by providing students with the essential tools and frameworks. They need to express themselves confidently and articulate their thoughts clearly. To support this goal I received rich literature books that students engage with high-quality vocabulary and varied writing styles. I was also given the writing process posters with the five steps where students pre-write draft revise edit and published their original work. This has helped my writers understand that writing is a skill, refined through practice and self reflection. I was also gifted ELA sentence frames that helps bridge the gap between ideas and written expression to target ELA sentence, stems and frames for these students that need academic language development. It has worked very well by combining rich text a structured writing process and language scaffolds we are cultivating an environment where every student can develop as a confident capable communicator. My students were incredibly excited when the boxes began arriving, and they discovered that they were filled with math and literacy games just for them. We have been learning how to play each game and using the materials to practice important skills such as addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, telling time, counting money, vocabulary, spelling, and problem solving. The games allow students to practice skills at their own level while working cooperatively with classmates, building confidence, and having fun.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite parts of this project has been turning the games into our classroom Math Missions. I am creating simple, student-friendly instruction cards for each game so students can independently choose a mission, gather their materials, and begin playing with a partner or small group. Students who are still strengthening foundational number sense can work on skills such as making ten or addition and subtraction, while other students can practice multiplication, division, fractions, and more challenging mental math. It has been wonderful to see students excited to practice skills that might otherwise feel like repetitive work.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue introducing the games and use them regularly for differentiated math practice and special Friday Math Mission rotations. As students become more familiar with the games, they will be able to work increasingly independently, while I meet with small groups and provide additional support where it is needed. The noise-canceling headphones, spinning chair, academic folders for centers from Lakeshore, and wobble chair feet have made a meaningful difference in our classroom.\r\n\r\nMy students are using these resources every day to help them stay focused, comfortable, and engaged during learning. The noise-canceling headphones give students a quieter space when they need to concentrate, while the spinning chair and wobble chair feet provide movement and sensory support during lessons and independent work. The academic folders have been especially helpful during our centers because students can easily access their work and materials and know what they are expected to complete.\r\n\r\nWhen the new materials arrived, my students were so excited! They were eager to try the different seating options and explore the new center materials. It was wonderful to see them recognize that these resources were designed to help them learn in ways that work best for them.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments has been seeing students independently choose the resource that helps them be successful. Instead of becoming frustrated or distracted, they are learning to recognize what they need in order to focus and participate. These small moments of independence are making a big difference in our classroom.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these resources during our centers and academic lessons while building students' independence and confidence. One of my students, who usually refused writing tasks at all costs, spent 20 minutes straight in one therapy session using various sensory writing/drawing tools, beaming with pride because he could finally have fun instead of doing work that was asked of him.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are using the resources to build \"Fine Motor Fitness\" and \"Fun Writing\" stations in the therapy room or in their classrooms.
