Instead of learning only from worksheets, they can now build, sort, count, and investigate. We use the mini clocks to practice telling time, 3D shapes to identify and describe attributes, tangrams to compose and decompose shapes, geoboards to create and compare shapes, and money flash cards to identify coins and their values. One favorite moment was watching students use tangrams and geoboards to create shapes and proudly explain their thinking. They were not simply memorizing vocabulary—they were thinking like mathematicians.\r\n\r\nThese resources also provide more opportunities for collaboration. During math centers, students solve problems, explain their strategies, and try new approaches when something does not work. I love hearing students say, \"Let me show you another way!\" as they discover that problems can often be solved in multiple ways. The materials have made math more interactive and joyful while helping students build confidence with challenging concepts.\r\n\r\nNext, students will apply their understanding of shapes, time, and money to real-world problem-solving activities and projects. They will use multiple tools together, explain their reasoning, and continue developing their mathematical thinking. With the UFLI Foundations teacher manual, I have a clear, systematic resource to guide students through important foundational reading skills such as phonemic awareness, decoding, blending, and spelling patterns. The hand2mind word-work materials give students the opportunity to practice these skills in a hands-on way by building and manipulating words, identifying patterns, and applying what they have learned. These tools allow me to meet students where they are and provide repeated practice that helps build both accuracy and confidence.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is an active part of every day. Students listen to and discuss books, practice new phonics skills, read decodable words and texts, and work together during small-group instruction.
