The project used several formulas from the unit, such as, slope formula, slope-intercept form, point-slope form, distance formula, and systems of equations. The students also wrote an Expository essay about their project. \r\n\r\nAt the beginning, students were excited and wanted to spend time drawing their attractions. As they got into the calculations using the points, slope and distance, they realized the project became a bit more challenging. They discovered that if they calculated slope incorrectly, it would throw off the calculations for the following equations. \r\n\r\nStudents had a timeline to follow, so their project could be completed in a timely manner. The finished posters were hung in the classroom for all students to view through a Gallery Walk. \r\n\r\nThe supplies (rulers, poster-sized grid paper, white cardstock paper, whiteboards, and more) provided by the donors was very helpful for the students in working on and completing this project.","fullyFundedDate":1725847772050,"projectUrl":"project/a-montana-mountain-hideaway/8751316/","projectTitle":"A Montana Mountain Hideaway","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kumm","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9737559"},{"teacherId":9709647,"projectId":8778887,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the donations! Each class begins with 10 minutes of independent reading, during which students can select a book that matches their reading level and interests. This choice allows them to read for enjoyment, while still challenging themselves at their own pace. The wide selection of books means that students at all proficiency levels can find texts that are both accessible and stimulating. As a result, students have acquired a deeper understanding of the French language, including enhanced vocabulary and a better grasp of grammar.\r\n\r\nThe diversity of the texts has allowed more confident readers to take on more complex materials. Meanwhile, students who may struggle with text-heavy materials enjoy the graphic novels, as the visuals help them understand the context and meaning of the words. This balance of challenge and support has created an environment where students feel motivated and capable of advancing their language skills. Overall, the project has not only strengthened their language proficiency but also ignited a genuine love for learning French.","fullyFundedDate":1727376820695,"projectUrl":"project/world-language-literacy-reading-in-fren/8791891/","projectTitle":"World Language Literacy: Reading in French","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Elise","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9693666"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39694","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":772,"numTeachers":55,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":68,"percentIndigenous":9,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":46.2,"schoolId":39694,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about East Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"East Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/great-falls-school-district-1a/east-middle-school/39694"}
