The materials I have chosen have several purposes. My students are low income, and many are in dire situations at home. They are doing their best with the distance learning, but many do not have supplies. I want to provide them with a couple of pencils, pens, and paper. I included the bag so they have somewhere to keep it all. Many are dealing with homelessness, multiple families in a small apartment, and many other chaotic situations. I also included a squishy to remind them of the mindfulness activities we practice in class. They learn to control their behaviors and their thoughts about themselves into something constructive. I gave the candy as a simple sweet treat, and the puzzles to remind them to continue challenging themselves mentally. Finally, I added the thank you cards so I can write each one of them a thank you for letting me get to know them and love them and letting me be their teacher. I am truly blessed to know each and every one of them.
