Because of your generosity, our classroom has been filled with new tools and resources that are already making a meaningful difference in our daily learning.\r\nYour donations helped provide science project kits, learning manipulatives, dry erase posters and markers, storage containers, fruit snacks, bleach wipes, and even a carpet sweeper to help keep our classroom clean and organized. Each of these items plays an important role in helping our students learn, explore, and stay engaged throughout the school day.\r\nThe science kits are allowing students to explore hands-on experiments and develop curiosity about how the world works. The manipulatives and dry erase materials are helping students practice math and problem-solving in interactive ways. The storage containers help us keep everything organized so learning time is used effectively.\r\nYou also helped make our classroom a more comfortable and welcoming place. The fruit snacks provide a quick boost of energy during long learning days, and the cleaning supplies help us maintain a healthy environment where students can focus and thrive.\r\nMost importantly, your kindness reminds our students that there are people who believe in them and care about their education. Your support encourages them to work hard, stay curious, and dream big.\r\nOn behalf of my entire 5th grade class, thank you for investing in our learning and our future. The droppers help strengthen fine motor skills as children squeeze. These movements build the hand strength needed for writing and other daily tasks.\r\n\r\nUsing real tools also increased focus and engagement. Children stayed involved longer with tasks as they actively explored and observed cause and effect.\r\n\r\nThe scientific tools encouraged language, curiosity and inquiry. Students began asking questions, making predictions, and exploring new ideas through simple investigations.\r\n\r\nThese experiences also helped us make connections to other skills, including counting, measuring, describing observations, and using new vocabulary. Overall, donated tools supported exploration, critical thinking, and early learning across multiple areas.","fullyFundedDate":1765226982007,"projectUrl":"project/future-scientists/9887954/","projectTitle":"Future Scientists","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jackson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1732493_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692046106241","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1732493"},{"teacherId":1732493,"projectId":9851303,"letterContent":"This project had a larger impact than anticipated! Increasing spatial awareness, determination, hand eye coordination, quantifying, and reinforcing prepositions where all noticeable as we engaged in a t-ball unit. \r\n\r\nStudents began using directional vocabulary like going to the right and quantifying the number three for strikes and bases. Students readily identify the numbers 1-3 which are marked on the bases and the word home. \r\n\r\nPersistence became evident as they practice catching balls and celebrating each other when successful. I hear them tell each other \"Don't give up\" or \"You can do it\". Your support nurtures a love of literacy and helps create a bright, engaging learning environment for our young learners. We truly appreciate your kindness!\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is an interactive and joyful experience that fosters a love for stories and learning. We focus on developing print concepts by teaching children that print carries meaning, understanding how books are organized, and recognizing front covers, titles, and author names. Engaging with books involves shared reading, active discussions, and encouraging children to predict and retell stories.\r\n\r\nWith our new texts, we're introducing skills such as identifying letters and sounds, understanding that print is read from left to right and top to bottom, and recognizing word boundaries. To connect phonemes with graphemes, students practice segmenting sounds in words, matching sounds to their corresponding letters, and blending phonemes to form words. These foundational skills support their decoding abilities and foster early literacy development.","fullyFundedDate":1745848137105,"projectUrl":"project/building-book-by-book/9229901/","projectTitle":"Building Book by Book","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jackson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1732493_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692046106241","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1732493"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_77990","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":109,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":100,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"5.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":45.1,"schoolId":77990,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jefferson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jefferson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/st-louis-public-schools/jefferson-elementary-school/77990"}
