These games are set to make you think but also be fast and correct. When you are incorrect you get a buzzer or the Perfection game pops up startling the students causing an anxiety response. These games are going to be so helpful showing how the body reacts! I can not wait for the students to use them at the start of February. My HOSA club, future health professionals, are also going to be able to make use of the Operation game as a fun activity to use at a meeting. \r\n\r\nMedical Interventions also learn to do different suturing skills and having the pre-thread sutures are going to make learning the skill easier-- since they won't need to worry about threading the needles. But I have the threaders as well for those who want the extra challenge of threading the suture needs. The pre-thread sutures are also made a different types of thread, so students will get to see the differences between the thread types like nylon, silk, and polypropylene.\r\n\r\nStudents in Human Body Systems work with building organs, vessels, nerves, and muscles on a manikin using a oil based clay. They also have many organ dissections as part of the curriculum. So students have to wash their hands often in class and having paper towels are a necessity. Students in Principles of Biomedical Science go through the Stop the Bleed training during 2nd semester. Using the puppy pads under the fake bleeding arm helps keep the classroom from getting to be a mess. We also use the pads during the phlebotomy practice and dissections to minimize messes.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful for my project getting funding and allowing me to share these grade science experiences with my students!","fullyFundedDate":1763557589404,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-science-experiences/9683234/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Science Experiences","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schnettler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2871525_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753140944503","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bschnettler"},{"teacherId":3652904,"projectId":9596760,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the supplies to stock up my coffee bar. Many of our students are now exploring science, technology, engineering, and math in ways that were previously impossible.\r\nWhile many of our donors use technology at home for work or entertainment, in our classroom, it's become a powerful tool for exploration and creativity. Students are using interactive platforms and design tools to research real-world STEM careers and develop presentations that connect what they learn in class to future opportunities. This technology allows them to go beyond textbooks by creating a career vision in person.\r\n\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students are not only learning STEM content—they're discovering role models, building confidence, and envisioning futures they hadn't imagined before. The materials you provided, such as sorting bins, packaging supplies, labeling tools, and task boxes, have allowed us to simulate a supportive employment setting that many of my students may encounter in the future.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was the excitement on my students' faces when they first saw the setup. They were curious, engaged, and eager to dive into the tasks. For example, one student who typically struggles with focus spent nearly 30 minutes carefully assembling kits and checking for accuracy, something we hadn't seen before. It was a powerful reminder of how meaningful and relevant tasks can unlock motivation and pride.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we're working on a unit focused on task sequencing and quality control. Students are learning how to follow multi-step directions, check their work, and collaborate with peers, skills that are essential in any workplace. Our next steps include introducing time tracking and productivity goals to help students build awareness of pacing and efficiency, just like they would in a real job setting.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide materials; it opened doors to independence, confidence, and future possibilities.
