My students were so excited when they first saw all of the new materials. They immediately wanted to touch, explore, and figure out how everything worked. The rolling cart has helped us keep our math materials organized and easy for students to access, while the place value manipulatives, counting cards, flip chart, and magnetic place value blocks have become a regular part of our math learning. One of our favorite daily activities is using the magnetic place value blocks to count the days of school. The students love building our number each day and watching the ones and tens change as our number gets bigger!\r\n\r\nThese resources have made our math lessons much more hands-on and meaningful. Instead of just looking at numbers on a worksheet, my students can build numbers, move the pieces, count, and see how numbers are put together. We are continuing to work on counting, understanding place value, and representing numbers in different ways. Our next steps are to use these materials during whole-group lessons, math centers, and small-group practice as students build confidence with numbers and learn to explain their mathematical thinking.
