Thanks to your support, students from every grade level have been able to plant, tend and harvest in our school garden. The child-friendly tools and gloves made it possible for so many more little hands to join in, turning the garden into a true community space for learning and joy.\r\n\r\nWhat began as a spring planting project quickly grew into something magical. Through the summer and into the fall, our garden has continued to thrive - bursting with color, curiosity and even pumpkins! Students arrive eager to see what has changed overnight, discovering new sprouts, pollinators and surprises every day.\r\n\r\nOur garden has become more than just an outdoor classroom - it's a gathering place. Families, staff, and neighbors have joined in to water, weed and harvest alongside our students. We even had former students come by and visit us in the garden over the summer. Together, we've built a living space of wonder and connection that continues to inspire curiosity and care for the world around us. Your generosity made a huge difference for our students, and I am so grateful you chose to invest in their growth.\r\n\r\nThis summer, we focused on putting books in students' hands that reflected people, places, and stories they could truly identify with. Every student had the opportunity to select *two brand-new books to take home and keep forever*. This not only boosted excitement in the classroom, but also helped many develop a new love for reading, something that several of our students had not experienced before.\r\n\r\nOne powerful moment came when a student picked up a book with a main character who looked like them and said, *\"This is me in a story!\"* That connection opened the door for deeper conversations and more joy during reading time.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were wide-eyed with excitement. They eagerly flipped through the pages, sharing favorite illustrations and comparing characters. Many couldn't believe they were allowed to actually take books home and keep them. The pride on their faces when they tucked those books into their backpacks is something I will never forget.\r\n\r\nBuilding on this momentum, we are continuing to strengthen our classroom culture of reading. Our next project is to use these books as springboards for creative expression, students will be writing their own short stories inspired by the themes and characters they connected with this summer. This will help them not only practice literacy skills, but also see themselves as authors and storytellers in their own right.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our students are beginning to see reading not as a chore, but as a source of joy, identity, and empowerment. I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your generous contribution to our classroom. Thanks to you, we now have access to Cricut Design Space, and our students are already tapping into their creativity in ways we never imagined! \r\n\r\nThe excitement in the room was undeniable when the students first saw the Cricut machine. For many of them, it was the first time they had the opportunity to design and create something tangible from their own imagination. While snow days delayed our start, we have finally begun experimenting with designs, learning the software, and bringing ideas to life. Some students have even transferred their sketches onto clothing, seeing their visions materialize right in front of them! \r\n\r\nThis project has already had a profound impact. It has not only sparked joy and creativity but has also given students a sense of ownership and pride in their work. They are developing problem-solving skills, learning patience, and seeing firsthand how technology can be a tool for expression. One student recently said, \"I never thought I could actually make my own clothing until now!\"* Moments like these remind me why this work is so important. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to take our designs to the next level. Students are brainstorming ideas for a small classroom-run business where they can create and sell their custom designs. They are also exploring how we can use the Cricut for school events, custom t-shirts, and even fundraising efforts. Your generosity has planted the seed for something bigger than just a classroom project, it's igniting future possibilities. \r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and supporting their creativity.
