Thanks to your support, students from every grade level have been able to plant, tend and harvest in our school garden. The child-friendly tools and gloves made it possible for so many more little hands to join in, turning the garden into a true community space for learning and joy.\r\n\r\nWhat began as a spring planting project quickly grew into something magical. Through the summer and into the fall, our garden has continued to thrive - bursting with color, curiosity and even pumpkins! Students arrive eager to see what has changed overnight, discovering new sprouts, pollinators and surprises every day.\r\n\r\nOur garden has become more than just an outdoor classroom - it's a gathering place. Families, staff, and neighbors have joined in to water, weed and harvest alongside our students. We even had former students come by and visit us in the garden over the summer. Together, we've built a living space of wonder and connection that continues to inspire curiosity and care for the world around us. Every student had the opportunity to select *two brand-new books to take home and keep forever*. This not only boosted excitement in the classroom, but also helped many develop a new love for reading, something that several of our students had not experienced before.\r\n\r\nOne powerful moment came when a student picked up a book with a main character who looked like them and said, *\"This is me in a story!\"* That connection opened the door for deeper conversations and more joy during reading time.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were wide-eyed with excitement. They eagerly flipped through the pages, sharing favorite illustrations and comparing characters. Many couldn't believe they were allowed to actually take books home and keep them. The pride on their faces when they tucked those books into their backpacks is something I will never forget.\r\n\r\nBuilding on this momentum, we are continuing to strengthen our classroom culture of reading. Our next project is to use these books as springboards for creative expression, students will be writing their own short stories inspired by the themes and characters they connected with this summer.
