Your commitment is directly shaping a more supportive and productive learning environment for our middle school students.\r\n\r\nMiddle school is an incredible time of growth, but it's also a period of intense social and emotional pressure. Many students struggle with the skills needed to manage big emotions, focus in a busy classroom, or navigate stress effectively. That's why this project is so critical—it provides our students with tangible, lifelong tools for emotional regulation and inner resilience.\r\n\r\nYour generous donation allowed us to move beyond basic concepts and establish a sustainable program that truly supports every child. Specifically, your gift will helped create dedicated quiet, structured spaces where students can voluntarily practice coping mechanisms when they feel overwhelmed, preventing small frustrations from becoming major disruptions.\r\n\r\nWe firmly believe that by teaching students how to \"Be the Change\" internally—how to regulate their own emotions and attention—we empower them to be positive forces externally. Your support isn't just funding a program; it is investing in a generation of students who will be better equipped to learn, lead, and thrive, both in and out of the classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are excited to keep you updated on the success stories and measurable progress of this initiative.","fullyFundedDate":1669783315693,"projectUrl":"project/mindfulness-and-regulation/7034499/","projectTitle":"Mindfulness and Regulation","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schultz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4148339_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1481755229940","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/cathyschultz"},{"teacherId":5807511,"projectId":8732313,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my classroom's need for more flexible seating and lighting. These items have given my students options in their seating that help them stay focused and engaged in their learning. It has also allowed us to have calmer lighting for class while we work or use the projector.\r\n\r\nWe use the lamps daily to avoid the overhead lights. Our overheads are all or nothing, so having the choice for dimmer lights truly keeps us calmer and makes it easier when using the projector - students can still work on notes or projects while having instructions on the board for all. The seating options have allowed my students to work while still having the movement that many middle schoolers need throughout the day.","fullyFundedDate":1733285995650,"projectUrl":"project/sensational-seating/8732313/","projectTitle":"Sensational Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dunnell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5807511_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1671121872777","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rdunnell"},{"teacherId":4148339,"projectId":9048415,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to our middle school program, \"Be the Change\"! It has improved our school's environment and culture in many ways. One of the most noticeable improvement of Be The Change was in the overall school climate. We've had decreased Bullying and Conflict, Students are actively encouraged to be \"upstanders\" instead of bystanders, stepping in or reporting situations where others are being treated poorly. We invited guest in to help break down social barriers by emphasizing respect and empathy, making students more welcoming of peers from different backgrounds or social groups.\r\n\r\nIt has also helped develop Student Leadership and Responsibility. Our Student Council helped organize events and reduced the burden on teachers and administrators. Your amazing donations also helped create student-led projects which teaches students how to plan, execute, and evaluate their efforts.\r\n\r\nIt also helped our students with Character Development. Students developed crucial life skills such as empathy, responsibility, problem-solving, and communication—traits that translate to academic success and life beyond middle school. It helped them focus academically. This has the added benefit of helping students be focused on being positive contributors to the school culture. \r\n\r\nWe could not have done this project without you. The headphones with microphones, stickers, and pencils have already made a huge difference, and I'm so excited to share how we're using them.\r\n\r\nThe headphones with microphones have been a game-changer! My students are using them to record themselves as part of their learning. For one recent project, they recorded their performances and reflections, and it was so cool to see how proud they were hearing themselves. This has been a great way for me to give them individual feedback without losing class time, and they love having this new way to engage with their work.\r\n\r\nThe stickers and pencils were an instant hit, too! As soon as they saw them, they got so excited—especially about the stickers. They've been a fun and easy way to reward their hard work, and the pencils have been great for both everyday use and as prizes. Who knew something so simple could bring so much joy?\r\n\r\nNext, we're jumping into a new project where students will use the headphones to record presentations. This will help them practice their speaking and listening skills while building their confidence. It's amazing how these tools are helping them grow and making learning more fun.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping to make all of this possible.
