I hope to foster critical thinking and creativity among my students. Most students find writing challenging, or they are afraid to fail. I plan to give them multiple wordless picture books to spark their interest in writing, and bring out the love of sharing their work. With their challenging home lives, writing gives them an opportunity to escape. In my past, I experienced my own obstacles at home coming from a low income family. Writing was one way I escaped, and a teachers faith in my writing allowed me to grow into the English teacher I am today. I hope to change a students life through writing how mine has.
