With your support, we were able to receive new fasteners for our mechanical team. It may seem trivial— just some nuts and bolts right? But in reality, these fasteners are the key to our success making competition robots. So far, we've used the new fasteners to assemble a ball launcher, fasten swerve drive modules (our robot wheels), and adjust the intake on our robot. These tasks have been made much easier to complete with the new stock of nuts and bolts in the right sizes and conditions. \r\nWhen our team received the packages, it was like an \"early Christmas\". Our collective excitement unboxing the new fasteners truly created a jolly atmosphere for the entire meeting. As we organized and put away the fasteners, we thankfully realized, gone were the days of spending an inordinate amount of our time scouring for the few remaining nuts and bolts in a specific size.\r\nNow with the right materials we need, our team is gearing up for the start of our competition season this January. We've been honing our skills, training our new members, and building model components to use in the construction of our competition robot. With our determination and the new tools for success, I know we're heading towards another great season thanks to your help. It's contributions like yours that allow us to keep doing what we love to do— making robots! So again, thank you for supporting our team.","fullyFundedDate":1755695194234,"projectUrl":"project/holding-it-all-together/9605103/","projectTitle":"Holding It All Together!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hiebert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4833074_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1582926690992","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4833074"},{"teacherId":9011407,"projectId":9085120,"letterContent":"On behalf of my students and myself, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation of a media production camera to our classroom. In a school where funding gaps often limit access to meaningful tools, your support is opening doors to creativity, storytelling, and technical skill-building for students who are often underrepresented in media spaces. Your donation isn't just a camera; it's a launchpad for confidence, voice, and vision.\r\n\r\nMany of our students are already immersed in technology outside the classroom, scrolling social media, watching YouTube, and dreaming about being content creators. But until now, they haven't had access to the kind of professional tools that allow them to create rather than just consume. With this camera, they're learning how to frame a shot, capture audio, plan storyboards, and edit their work into something they can be proud of. It's been incredible to see how a piece of equipment can turn a quiet student into a bold director or a behind-the-scenes organizer into a skilled cinematographer.\r\n\r\nOne student, in particular, has absolutely blossomed. She's a sophomore who rarely spoke up during class, but the moment she had the chance to film and direct a short PSA about mental health, she lit up. She stayed after school to learn the camera settings, researched interview techniques, and guided her peers through the process like a natural leader. This technology gave her the chance to see herself as someone capable of making an impact.That's a kind of learning no textbook can provide.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their futures. You've given them the tools not just to learn, but to create, and in doing so, to believe in themselves.","fullyFundedDate":1739374642236,"projectUrl":"project/building-school-pride-through-media-prod/9085120/","projectTitle":"Building School Pride Through Media Production: A Call for Support","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Day","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9011407_orig.jpg?crop=3456,3456,x552,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718236084036","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9011407"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70518","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2064,"numTeachers":125,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":68,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.8,"schoolId":70518,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hazelwood West High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hazelwood West High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/hazelwood-school-district/hazelwood-west-middle-school/70518"}
