Having a designated snack area allows students to independently get what they need without disrupting instruction.\r\n\r\nThe snack area has also helped create a more caring and supportive classroom environment. When students are hungry, it can be difficult for them to focus, participate, and fully engage in learning. Providing snacks helps remove one small barrier to learning and allows students to return to their work feeling more comfortable and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nAnother positive change has been the sense of independence and responsibility the snack area encourages. Students learn to make appropriate choices, respect classroom routines, and help keep the area organized.
