They usually create colorful works and then are only able to print in black and white. Most of the time it doesn't get printed because they know it will not look as good. \r\n\r\nMany of them have talked about how they have given some of the printed items as gifts or used them as decoration in their rooms. One student even stated that she decorated her whole room using the art she had designed and printed. All the students have created a work of art and given it as a gift and they were so proud to do so. I have been impressed with the way they have worked to create beautiful works of art.\r\n\r\nWith the use of the color printer, the students have taken great pride in their designs This seems to have helped them increased their confidence in their design skills. With this confidence they have become more involved in their school work and displaying their printed projects have help them gain respect from others. After the design was complete, they inserted mini lights in order to add interest and sometimes color (by using color lights) to the design. The students selected their own bottles, their design, and their lights from the options available or they could sketch their own artwork and etch over it.\r\n\r\nThey students' eyes widen when they saw their completed etching. They were so proud! One student even stated \"No one will believe that I etched this by myself!\" but he did. When he got his snowman design completed with the lights and showed it to me and his classmates, they all applauded and told him how nice and pretty his design was. He smiled big and ducked his head. \r\n\r\nAfter this, each student showed the others their completed design and they all made great comments about how nice or pretty they were. The students love it! They have been printing some things they already had created along with many new creations. \r\n\r\nThey have been so happy to be able to take hard copies of things to share with others and to make cards with special notes to teachers who have helped them along the way. It has been so much fun watching them get the colors \"just right\" so their creations stand out or their personal brand can shine.\r\n\r\nIt has really helped to that they were able to replace some artwork that several had lost in the recent tornado that hit our community. This gave them a bright spot in a very dark time in their young lives. It was the first time I had seen some of them smile in weeks. For many of them, having access to simple items like pencils, pens, and markers isn't guaranteed, so your donation gave them more than supplies — it gave them dignity and the ability to fully participate in their learning.\r\n\r\nWe recently used these materials for a writing and illustration project where students created their own short stories based on characters they developed in class. With new writing utensils and colorful supplies, students were able to bring their ideas to life in a way that made them feel proud and capable. They took ownership of their work, collaborated with one another, and shared their stories aloud with confidence — something they may not have done without the right tools in their hands.\r\n\r\nOur next step is continuing this momentum by launching a series of cross-curricular projects where students will research, write, and present ideas related to science, social studies, and current events. To do this successfully, we need ongoing access to classroom supplies. Your support has shown my students that they are worth investing in — and I'm committed to making sure they always have what they need to grow. The magnetic food mats were a plus during our cooking portion of class while were in the process of learning about the food groups/meal planning through choosemyplate.gov.
