These materials will help capture students' interesting in reading. It will also allow each students to have his or her own book, which enables them to take notes better. These reading books will help improve comprehension skills and fluency skills. The class will also be able to engage in whole group reading, which is rarely done because of the lack of students books in my class. This helps struggling readers read more age/grade appropriate material. We will also engage in cross curricular studies. These books are based in Mississippi. Therefore, we will research Mississippi during the Great Depression, (before and after). This will help my students learn more about the state in which we live.
