Having access to individual copies of \"The Lightning Thief\" is going to give us so many opportunities to strengthen reading skills, explore mythology, discuss characters and themes, and—most importantly—help students discover that reading can actually be fun!\r\n\r\nYour donation means that every student can follow along, annotate, participate in discussions, and gain interest in Percy Jackson's adventure. I am especially excited to see the conversations, connections, and excitement this book will bring to our classroom. We will be completing a novel study that integrates comprehension aligned with our state standards, but I am planning to have multiple projects lined up for them to complete. I always try to integrate creative activities in to make connections while having fun.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping me create a classroom where they can read, grow, imagine, and succeed. The students are very excited to start a new novel study on \"The Giver\", which you generously provided for them. The students have not been exposed to many novels throughout elementary school and sixth-grade, so this has been a very new experience for them. We previously read \"The Boy in the Striped Pajamas\", which sparked an interest in them to complete more novel studies. Many of my students are not excited about reading new books on their own, but they enjoy it as a class with paired activities and discussions.\r\n\r\nBy providing a new set of books for the students to read they will not only be exposed to a new novel, but also a new genre. Most of my students have never heard of a dystopian society, or dystopia in general. My goal for the students is to develop a new interest in this genre of books to hopefully encourage them to dive deeper into dystopia. Thanks to your kindness they will now have access to new material and literary experiences. Once again, we are so appreciative of what you have been able to provide for our classroom, and the betterment of our student's literary education.","fullyFundedDate":1762530833671,"projectUrl":"project/the-giver-novel-study-for-seventh-grad/9731372/","projectTitle":"\"The Giver\" Novel Study for Seventh Grade Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harlow","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9505564_orig.jpg?crop=1083,1083,x1411,y1247&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752805125886","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9505564"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15091","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":385,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":77,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":59,"percentWhite":32,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":15091,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kosciusko Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kosciusko Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/kosciusko-school-district/kosciusko-junior-high-school/15091"}
