The materials arrived one week before students came to my class, so I assembled one kit and planted spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers and bell peppers. When my students came to class for their first meeting, the cucumber plants and the spinach had sprouted. Both groups (2nd/3rd grade and 4th/5th grade) were delighted to see the baby plants. \r\n\r\nStudents read about the two different types of hydroponic kits in our classroom, and they learned about photosynthesis and what plants need to grow. 2nd/3rd grade students learned about plant habitats and designed and \"created\" plants from recyclable materials. 4th/5th grade students read about germination and use damp paper towels to help herb seeds germinate before setting up the visual hydroponics kit. We have been delighted to see the basil and cilantro sprouting. \r\n\r\nTo complete our project, I plan to invite a parent who is a nutritionist to speak to the class about healthy eating and sustainable gardening.","fullyFundedDate":1746912638015,"projectUrl":"project/lets-grow-an-indoor-salad/9331510/","projectTitle":"Let's Grow An Indoor Salad!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Crum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9052844_orig.jpg?crop=848,848,x0,y102&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691018525022","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9052844"},{"teacherId":9052844,"projectId":8261185,"letterContent":"The Dash robots were not available, so I had to substitute them with three tablets for my Woodley classroom.
