The great thing about this project is that it will continue to impact students for years to come.\r\n\r\nThe students enjoyed using these resources as a creative outlet when the weather was too cold in Minnesota to play outside in the winter. Global Play Day which is a nationwide event that recognizes and celebrates the importance of unstructured play and interactions in children is another huge day where the supplies were used by first grade students.\r\n\r\nAgain, I am truly grateful for you support to this project. My students have enjoyed all of the materials and I have enjoyed the extra opportunities to build strong social skills. The magnetic blocks have been a big hit for our buddy play activities in which students are paired together and use materials towards for a common goal. During these intentional lessons, our young learners are practicing specific social skills such as cooperation, listening, sharing, giving compliments, and taking turns. I have a group of students who have especially enjoyed the magnetic people as they discover all the different magnetic materials in our classroom that they will stick too. This has been fun to watch their enthusiasm and the way they are interacting with each other. \r\n\r\nBoth the sensory wall and the moldable sand have been great additions to our sensory activities. Many find these activities to be calming. I appreciate that the sensory sequence wall is large enough for several children to use at the same time. This allows for additional social interaction opportunities between students. The moldable sand has been a favorite activity. Students are drawn to the bright color and sweet scent and love the way it feels! \r\n\r\nPlease know that your generosity is certainly appreciated.
