With the bracelet-making supplies, tie-dye T-shirts, stickers, flags, books, and games, students have been able to participate in activities that celebrate kindness, inclusion, and being proud of who you are. One of our favorite projects so far has been making bracelets together. Students loved choosing colors, helping each other, and creating something that represents friendship and support. We also had a tie-dye day, which quickly turned into a memorable community-building experience full of creativity, laughter, and students cheering each other on.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students were especially thrilled to see the bright flags, fun stickers, and all the craft supplies. Several students said things like, \"This is so cool!\" and \"We get to make these?!\" It was clear that having these resources made them feel special and cared for. The inclusive books and games have also been a wonderful addition, giving students opportunities to talk about respect, differences, and how to make everyone feel welcome at school.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the year, we plan to keep using these materials during community-building activities and special projects that focus on kindness, teamwork, and celebrating what makes each person unique. Students are already asking when we can make more bracelets and do another tie-dye day, and the books and games will continue to be part of our classroom time together. The consistently clean surface also reduces distracting ghosting and smudges that can interfere with visual learning.\r\n\r\nWith a magnetic marker holder and organized erasers, transitions became smoother and instructional time increased because materials were always accessible and ready to use. I spent less time searching for markers or fixing messy boards and more time delivering focused instruction, modeling strategies, and facilitating class discussions. That smoother tech flow reduces downtime and keeps lessons moving, which boosts engagement and learning outcomes.\r\n\r\nPractically, a school‑provided laptop would protect my personal device from daily wear while letting me deliver more data‑driven, differentiated instruction. The ready‑to‑use activities made it easy to run hands‑on experiments and challenges during small‑group rotations, so I could differentiate instruction and deepen critical‑thinking skills. During tests, transitions, and long instructional blocks, students used the fidgets to release excess energy without disrupting others, which led to quicker re-engagement and fewer behavior interruptions. Students with ADHD, anxiety, or sensory needs were better able to participate alongside their peers, and the whole class benefited from a calmer, more productive learning environment.\r\n\r\nBecause the fidgets are durable and silent, they enabled more flexible classroom routines and allowed me to spend less time on redirection and more time on targeted instruction. Small-group work, independent practice, and assessments ran more smoothly, and students showed improved stamina for tasks. These tools supported students' self-regulation skills—many learned to recognize when they needed a fidget to refocus—resulting in higher on-task rates and better completion of daily learning activities.","fullyFundedDate":1746786045994,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-focus-fidgets-for-our-5th-grad/9321649/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Focus: Fidgets for Our 5th Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Heras","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7581172_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x252,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1678037604436","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7581172"},{"teacherId":7581172,"projectId":9833949,"letterContent":"My 5th graders LOVE their wobble stools — they were an instant hit last year and are used every single day.
